How easy to knock D2 schools down? Topic

I just took over Virginia Tech in knight. I have 5 openings to fill, and money to burn. Problem is I need to not have my recruits sign before I can get enough intrest in to actually recruit them. How easy is it to knock a D2 school down, do I only need a few APs like 10-20, or do I need to go like 80 and still hope he doesn't sign?

Teams that only get to recruit in the second period should get an attention point boost or something, there's just too many people to get APs in and too little time and APs.

Time is not on your side. Open stuff fast so ap... don't spread out too much.

I suggest considering transfers as well. You have to scout the state they come from to see them (I think, thats what it seemed like for me) and they will show up as all F's until either level 3 maybe even 4. When I changed jobs in Phelan I had a ton of scouting budget so I scouted every single state for D1 and a lot of D2 states and found a bunch of transfers and signed 3 of them.

The second period is just not long enough .. but it is what it is.

I would say look for guys where there is a DIV-3 guy on him and in the lead, you have until the last turn at that point (unless someone else comes in).

Also, look at guys with no scholarship offered .. OR, a preference of Late or Whenever. If some one has 'early' or 'by the end of period one' and they made it to the second session, they will likely sign earlier than late or whenever guys (well .. at least they will have a higher signing probability if there are qualified offers).

You might also consider taking a couple walkons if you don't have a big class next recruiting cycle. You can not take more than 3 walkons .. but taking one or two over where you have a long time to recruit in session one next season might not be a terrible idea (compared to taking someone for 4 years who is a stretch and can't really play on your team).

Look for international players and transfers. That's how I started my two teams at D1 in 3.0

Second that. My approach would be to focus on one or two long term guys, then scout for 1-2 year players, and internationals who don't have other teams on them. I'm willing to take a couple walk-ons too, if necessary, but jucos and transfers give you warm bodies and make you a better team this season.

In response to OP, there are some ways to try to discern if the D2 has much actually invested in the guy or not, but mostly you'll need to prioritize and figure it out. With 5 scholarships, you'll have the resources to knock them out, but you'll need to focus on 2 guys (I'd reserve maybe 10-12 APs to spread around on 3-5 of those aforementioned jucos, transfers, and intls, but that's up to you obviously). Most guys, you can unlock scholarships with ~50 APs, then should be able to offer promises and visits the next cycle. I'd focus on late guys here. Early and end of period 1 guys usually sign with the D2 right away when the second period opens up.

This is how I did it too. I signed three international guys in that second recruiting session.

10-12 APs to spread across 3-5 guys? So each guy gets like 2 APs? That can't even make a dent in the scholarship requirement.
