I think we're far enough into 3.0 that we can say what's working and what isn't. I'm not bitter about a recent recruit that I've lost or anything like that, in fact I've changed my recruiting strategy a bit to avoid some of these frustrations. I'm mostly speaking as an impartial outside observer.

Well said, the new format is riddled with frustration and has effectively ruined a good game. There needs to be more flexibility in the pursuit process given that there is a cap on effort. If you have to wait and hope until the recruits number gets called for his decision, then you shorten the recruiting period for putting effort into other options when you lose. Random outcomes at the end of a restrictor plate race (pardon the NASCAR reference, but it seems to apply well here) are no fun for customers looking for a game of strategy.

I think there are a lot of good features about 3.0, don't get me wrong. Some of the logic is just really screwed up. Seble had a vision in mind, but just didn't think the whole thing through. For instance, people on the BETA testing forums would complain about one thing, seble would fix it, but didn't consider "if I fixed A do I need to compensate by fixing B so that it would work for C as well. Seble was fixing issues from a programmer side and not seeing things from a gamer side perspective, if that makes any sense.

You make sense wizard, these other two clowns have to muddy every conversation with their nonsense. You are right, the beta was poorly executed by an employee we now know was leaving. They ultimately have failed to listen to their long time customers and the result is we are finding other things to do with our money and time. The beta ran too short, they rolled out an incomplete product, and we the users continue to bear the consequences. We now have an HD reality that is an ongoing beta test where minor tweaks, arbitrarily determined by the new staff, are made at their leisure.

i also agree with you that there are some good aspects of 3.0, but the bad and bugs undermine the whole.

to promote battling for recruits

Because "I've got the most resources, he's mine" is boring.

The current format is not a battle, it is a lottery. Coaches have to determine which lotto games they will enter. You can't win if you don't play, right? They may be able to increase their odds of winning that lottery as they buy more tickets for it, but at the end of the day it comes down to the big draw or scratch off ticket.

It really is based on luck how well you do (I have been on the lucky side).
The Big10 human teams (9) have a total of 19 walkons. Duke got stuck with 5 walkons alone.

And feel free to ignore the jackazz spudtard. When THESE are his 3 DI (LMAO) recruits you can see why he has no clue what it takes to win at high level DI. No wonder he doesn't have contested battles.

I wouldn't even go after those last 2 with a DII team.............

I'm not going to defend Spud's views on this topic but he has built a 9 seed in the NT at Jackson St in 4 years. 32 RPI team.

This is a newbie, maybe contrarian, view ... are D1 coaches recruiting greedily? Are you trying to get a full roster of All-Americans? Are you trying to be Kentucky and trying for 5 diaper dandies every recruiting season?

The game was set up differently in the past. If a Duke, Kentucky, UNC, etc wanted a recruit, they staked claim and got him. There was no contested battles(unless Duke, UNC, Kentucky, etc all wanted the same guy).

Some users want that game back.
