Recruiting - "New Coach Reduction" Topic

I just did a job change in Rupp, moving from D3 up to D2. One of the first things I'm doing is looking to see what kind of effort was put into recruiting by SIMAI for my new team during session 1 that's carrying over into session 2.

For some of the recruits that are showing up under "Current Attention", I'm seeing a line in the recruiting history tab that says "New Coach Reduction".

Any idea of exactly what this is, and what impact it may have on these potential recruits as we head into session 2 later this week?

I was under the impression that SIMAI recruiting doesn't apply to your new team. But you get full resources(i.e. SIM didn't waste your scouting).

I do have full resources, but there are also guys in the pipeline for session 2. Two guys with scholarship offers (including one who I am the leading school on), and a couple of others that have low interest because they got a handful of APs from my school during session 1.

tecwrg,
In my experience, it means the computer reduces the effort put in by the previous coach (SIM or human) during session 1. In the 2 cases it happened to me, it was significant enough to take me from leading for a top recruit at Very High vs Moderate in one case vs High in another, down to not being considered. In effect, it wiped out previous recruiting effort, and I was even limited on future effort by the fact that previous effort was no longer available, such as the Campus Visit already processed in Session 1 was no longer available and I only had the balance of remaining 20 Home Visits to use. Customer support was no help, and didn't respond to my ticket until after the recruit had signed. It sounds crazy I know, and I can't think of why WIS included this into the recruiting engine. Good luck in the new spot.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say. Poor job on me. I believe chapelhillne explained it much better when he started a thread(same conference, last season, I think).

There is a reduction. It did destroy my D3 recruiting as I got passed on two top recruits because of the new owner reduction rule. You will survive it, it just gets you lower talented recruit for the first season.

reviving an old thread, since i'm doing my first job change in HD3...this is a really sucky "feature." going into the second session, it basically takes you out of the running for the only guys that did have scholarships opened up! add it to the "job change penalty" list.

Yeah, HD has made it really annoying to change jobs at any level, in multiple ways. I'm not sure what they are trying to gain from it.

The game was designed so that you had to climb the ladder to advance into a 'big time' coaching gig. This includes several job changes typically. That's how it was designed by the developer.

Making these job changes less desirable and more difficult to complete (and more time consuming!) doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me..

if you're going to give a coach a reduction for players they hadn't contacted, at least be consistent in the logic and give them a bonus for players they contacted at their previous job.

Reviving an old thread because I think this is ridiculous. Previous human offered a start that was wiped along with the new coach reduction. He'd spent a significant amount of attention on the guy and I'm left with not being able to offer a start anymore because "a start was already offered."

Yep ,. just another 2.0 feature designed to **** off users..

Why whine about it? Why not just play the game as it is and if there are things that you think can be improved, call it to Seble's attention.

I did. It's not an improvement, its a literal glitch. I'm unable to use a recruiting tool that other coaches have access to for that same player. It's not fair. And I'm already at a disadvantage by having all recruiting in period one reduced.

I'm just trying to point out what annoys new coaches.

If this was the case, WHY can we not cut at once Sim recruits that the Sim signed, or keep some of the effort that we had on recruits at out previous school. I personally think it is an intended hassle to keep people from changing jobs.
