So I just thought this was kinda weird and interesting. I just signed a 5 man class with my Chestnut Hill team. It's not super spectacular or anything but I think it's pretty solid. But I didn't spend a single dollar from my recruiting budget or send any promises. I literally just sat there with AP on players until they signed. Didn't even need to battle a sim for any of them.

My point about this. Cap, battle again.

Actually isn't that tough to do, but feels great when it happens. I feel like recruiting dollars for the most part are useless in the new system; especially at D3. Really boils down to AP and avoiding battles.

Yeah, I agree with this. Pretty much all the D1 guys I get at the D3 level are purely by AP. I typically throw some HV or CV at them the last cycle before they can sign though just to be safe, not that it'd actually deter someone from a higher level that would really want them. That and you can't roll over the cash anyways, so you might as well.

You can't beat higher level sims with just AP if they're on the recruit from the start.

Totally agree with that point, but honestly if a D1 level sim jumps on the guy in phase one, it's not even worth the effort in most cases. The scarcity of owners at each level also make recruiting very easy. Prestige helps out tons, but easy to get to an A+ prestige nowadays.

edited to reflect D1 which is where my thinking was.

I battle higher level sims all the time.

The A+ prestige helps with that. If you were a newbie or just getting to a team; that would hurt. Chestnut being the example.

Eh, beating a d2 sim at d3 is reasonably easy regardless of prestige.

I meant D1, but I agree with beating the D2's

I think if I signed an entire class on AP's alone, I would know I didn't do my best. I would know there were better players out there I could have contested for, and I could have signed a better class. I would think I loafed.

Lol what? theres no point in battling at D3, minimal amount of resources. Might as well move on and seek an uncontested player, there are many of them.

I battle all the time at D3. If there's a player worth fighting for you should fight for him.

Let me clarify: D3 has the biggest recruiting pool since we can scout and sign from all 3 divisions, it's easy to be very conservative when recruiting especially when recruiting D1 players who can't sign until the last 24 hours. I keep a long list of categorized scouted players with notes, it's too easy to back out and go onto the next uncontested player when I see another human putting a lot of effort to sign. I'm sure it's more difficult for D1 teams who must compete for the top 100 to be competitive and successful. The only time I "battle" is when I have the edge on preferences so I throw a CV and HV then call it a day.
