Exhibition Boycott? Topic

I don't know what's going on in Crum D2, but the season turned over a couple days ago. And I reached out to a couple coaches for exhibition games, no response. So I started looking for more humans to play, and there's a decent amount of coaches that aren't even scheduling exhibitions at this point. And one game just played like 2 hours ago.

I've never paid this close attention, but is that normal? I ALWAYS play my exhibition games, even if it's against a sim. And the are quality coaches i'm talking about. That have ranked teams. I didn't count. But I'd guess there's around 15 of them

Exhibition games are for noobs Topdogg. Starting lineups are to be kept secret for as long as possible. Sometimes I wait until the CT before revealing my true starters.

Really? I've never missed an exhibition game. Just for something to do! And I've played many against championship coaches. I don't play them based on lineups or secret lineups. I just play them because they are there. I usually set my distro at 0 for everyone, set my 3pt frequency, and just let the two games play out. Not even for anything meaningful.

And my CT and NT lineups are usually different than regular season as well. But it's because I use promised minutes often.

I miss exhibition games sometimes. They're really not that important to me. Just something to do/read pretty much.

if you dont do exhibitions, you give up some improvement - i think

I usually look for the best SIM teams I can find and just schedule them

AND I play slow to increase the tiny chance of multiple OT and even more improvement

Lol no not really. If I remember early enough, I try to play good human teams to see how I stack up. Otherwise I’m playing SIMs and experimenting with lineups, tempo, and distro

That's the way it used to be in 2.0. I assume it hasn't changed.

I believe...development used to be based on a combination of practice minutes and playing minutes. Exhibition games counted as playing time back in the day. If you didn't play exhibition games, you gave up a smidge of development. Going back to my scotch now.

I usually just sign up against the first two div 3 teams on the list. Getting the free practice, that's it.

topdoggg, shoot me an exhibition invite in Crum next season, I'll play you without hesitation. Heck, I'll go play at your place - my dad used to go to the Slippery Rock library to study.

Will do.... I'll test my skills, and get pounded against a D1 school! This is a down year anyway, next season will be a better challenge, if you wanna call that a challenge.

Cool story about your dad. One thing about this game, is it's kinda cool when you hear about a school that you're coaching, for whatever kind of reason. I've heard of a few athletes that came from there (no big names). I seem to recall a big name in women's basketball going there. C. Vivian Stringer or Muffet McGraw or something

Exhibition games help improvement a bit. Keeping your starting lineup secret is only valuable if you are playing a very weak schedule. I only play Div1 and I don't play games hiding my starters b/c in order to keep my SOS high I play stronger teams and need to win those games if possible. Perhaps in Div. II or Div. III the stealth lineup might be a reasonable ploy.

I play both exhibition games, and I start all freshmen/sophomores . . . basically, the guys who have the most green and blue numbers in their ratings. I play the crappiest teams I can find, and go uptempo.
