Jobs Process is beyond broken. Topic

Yeah, PI appearances, even deep runs, don't have a lot of impact when getting a job at the next level. Hate to tell you that.

Jobs process has been broken for some time.

It isn’t broken, it’s working exactly as designed. It’s a bad design, and it’s completely misguided. But it isn’t broken.

no NT appearances. Not saying the process isn't broken, but in empty worlds that's hardly an impressive resume at SLU. Did you apply while at CSU, LA?

D1 Knight - if it’s not blatantly obvious by my username, my dream job in HD is at Gonzaga U. Just won the PI with my SLU squad and I am still marked as ‘Keep Looking’ at GU. Waited till my denial of the job a few hours ago to post this, but I feel like this is a good example of how broken the jobs process is. With a 397-194 record along with other achievements and accolades, I have definitely established a “winning atmosphere” at every school I’ve been at in Knight. What more do I need to qualify for a school with a lower prestige than the school I am at currently?!
Gonzaga Knight is a C+ program with a high baseline, and you have 0 NT appearances in D1. Them denying you is the right result by any standard.

Qualify for the NT, then get back to us.

Yeah - I think you need to make the NT a year or two. Plus, the first four seasons at Saint Louis were not that impressive. I think if you have one more good season at Saint Louis and make the NT, you should qualify.

I disagree. I just won 5 straight games against above average opponents in a postseason tournament. That’s a feat that a small percentage of coaches achieve. The PI is so undervalued in HD that I question it’s existence.

IRL, I would be given a lot more credit for winning the NIT in the jobs process. I would have been a shoe in for that job if there was an opening. It may not be the most talked about tournament among fans, but coaches would give a lot of credit especially due to the fact that it is very different from the NT because of the element of HCA.

Correct me if I’m wrong but SLU and GU have the same baseline. It shouldn’t be this hard to qualify. GU was taken when I was at CSULA but I only qualified for D prestige schools after my E8 run.

D1 is tough. Its difficult rebuilding with a D prestige, the players that I fought for during recruiting get stomped by players that higher prestige teams get routinely. I don’t understand how someone can rebuild a low prestige in just one or two seasons. Now that SLU is at a B-, I’ll be in contention for many of those recruits. Any more experienced coaches willing to share their rebuilding resumes?

C'mon shoe. You know exactly what I meant. Do I have to be specific each time I post?

Just for that, I'm going to kick your butt even more when we play..lol

much wrong w jobs process

one central element of the process is emphasis on NT appearances - while a broader look at resume might be nice, thats long established and not all that bad - get to the dance a few times and jobs will open

In real life nobody cares about the NIT except the participants.

It was added to this game to give almost-successful coaches something to do at the end of the season. It was never meant to be a workaround for missing the NT.

Yea I feel that making the PI is nothing. I also feel that if I go to the PI, I did not have a successful season. No matter what I do in that tournament. Being the 65th best team doesn't feel like progress to me. (Yes I realize that you're not literally the 65th best team after winning the PI). There's no value there.

Keep working and you will get your job

Hey Zags!
Top suggestion for your Saint Louis team: always fill out your non-conference schedule!!!

It looks like your Billikens are doing great and are being built "brick by brick". The A-10 is set up great tor you with 2 humans in each division, meaning the conference won't be a complete millstone around your neck.

i would say:
- Keep recruiting guys who have great Athleticism and Defense.
- Absolutely fill out your non-conference schedule each year. This is huge! I think you have 8 openings which will crush your RPI.

Good luck!

I have gonna d to b a couple times in Rupp. I did it at Princeton and auburn. I think it’s easier to get good players now but harder to make the NT. You used to be able to find empty conferences and make the NT by season 3 or so without to much difficulty.

i think the key to rebuilds is to sign a bunch of 80 core guys and take a couple shots on 90 core guys.
