1) Wasn't aware that the White House needed steroids.

2) Tell me the last person who formed a relationship with Jose Canseco and was happy he/she had done so.

Can't argue with Bill here.

1) Steroids were a banned substance, Canseco broke the rules when he did them, and breaking rules is wrong.

2) I literally can't think of anyone who was happy to form a relationship with Canseco. He's sort of a reverse Midas. Everyone he touches gets diminished through their association with him.

McGwire and him were needle buddies

why he's hated today is he broke snitch rules, locker-room rules, family rules

may i suggest he did it to put food on his table, since he was black-listed

He might get more credit if he had ever appeared to have a drop of humility in him. He appeared to be self-serving in every moment, and thereby far less deserving of any praise for anything he did.

Yeah, when I think altruism Jose Conseco comes to mind immediately.

Perhaps I was too subtle with my sarcasm in the first post. I was actually mocking Bill James for "punching down" on a washed-up airhead athlete, when there's a more powerful -- and more criminal, toxic and ridiculous -- target he routinely defends.

It's not impossible to know something about them.
