I got one for you...How many of you would consider playing Jimmie Foxx at CATCHER??? I am actually leaning toward it right now.

I know Foxx biggest season, with the 46 home runs and other monster #'s are hard to resist. His fielding at 1b is decent too. The thing is though, his best season at Catcher is still the 2nd highest salary at the position (*behind one Piazza season I believe), and his fielding and arm are above average. If I put him at catcher and draft another 1b with pop, I think I come out better offensively than putting Foxx at 1b and drafting another C.

Thoughts? Has anyone who ever drafted Foxx considered this?

Do you like my practice in this league of allowing owners to pick into the following day's draft order, as long as the following days picks are OFF the clock and no one can be skipped??

I think the wording is poor and I don’t see an answer I like. My answer is : sure you should be allowed, but not compelled, to pick ahead of your time slot.

I’ve never used Foxx or paid attention to how others used him. But I guess I always assumed he was picked so high because of his Catcher eligible season.

So out of pure idle curiosity, how long do most people stick with their so called plan in this draft? I went in this time saying wait on pitching, and focus on non OF bats as they are scarcer...and Ive succesfully drafted a SP and 3 OFers

Funny how things work out huh? I think it's best NOT to have any plan until the draft is maybe a third over. I usually just try to take the guy who has fallen farther than he should have, see how the first 7-10 rounds go and then go from there. I start formulating which park I think should work best for the guys I have drafted around round `3 or 14.

Of course that NEVER works because I always seem to suck at home once the season starts lol.

Just wondering (while we wait til dilligaf makes his picks in the early AM)...do any of you have owners who you cringe when seeing their picks. wprrying that they are going to steal who you want???

I certainly do. It seems ledfoot, ejstockman, skinndiggg, borthof49, jbar and most of all, kelly1 are on the same wavelength as I am and steal more of my guys than any other.

On the "usually go their own way and I DON'T worry about them stealing who I want" list are MotorBoarJon, roadhouse, Chisock, NotOmar, je3rd, brucel and uptown.

If you're not on either list, your picks have been good, just not who I wanted, OR you just haven't ****** me off yet lol

Of course! I must say, I always wince when jbar picks. I can basically predict his selections and Kellys before they are made. You and ledfoot also seem to nab my next picks too.

I always try to stick to my plan. Mainly because I think there is a bigger drop from the elite hitters to average hitters than there is from elite pitchers to average pitchers. Anytime I have picked one of those top 4-5 pitchers they don't seem to dominate like I expect a First round pick high $ pitcher should dominate.

Just my opinion, I'm sure others believe the complete opposite.

I hope you are wrong this season and the top pitchers all dominate

ON ONE HAND, I AM PLEASED TO BE "SOMEONE WHO GOES THEIR OWN WAY!"
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND, IT WOULD GIVE ME PERVERSE PLEASURE TO ANNOY THE COMMISH!

I'm just throwing this out there for discussion for next time.

I think by round 16 is about where most teams core players are already taken.

Instead of taking 2 per round starting at round 18, what does everyone think about taking 2 per round starting at round 16?

I'D BE FINE WITH THAT!!
