Best way to minimize full court press impact Topic

My teams have always had an issue with turnovers with FCP teams, even if they have great ball handling and passing skills. So I am asking for input from some of you super smart coaches on how to minimize the effects of the FCP teams. Sitemail if you have something that you do not want published in the forum. I will gratefully accept any help you might be able to offer publicly or privately.

Depth. High athleticism so you can generate fouls. Good passing from all positions.

You have to build a team to beat the FCP. Speed is super important, as is IQ and BH.

Stamina is also something you need to watch. Part of what makes the FCP so effective is that teams get tired and foul, managing stamina and fouls is also important so def, ath, and sta are indirectly important.

As for in game planning, go slow down, avoid super negative defenses (I rarely go less than -1 unless I am running a zone), and jack your best player's distro up.

The best way to beat the press is by using TYPR Method.

in my experience, target minutes exposes you to the risk of players on the court at problematic fatigue levels and distorted lineups that give playing time to guys you would not want out there

I use target minutes only when absolutely necessary in order to fulfill a promise

I am not aware of any specific benefit of target minutes against full court press, but would be most interested in any explanation of how it is helpful against FCP

You reach your target quicker and it helps with overloading minutes but they are suppose to learn that by studying target minutes in ways which it helps in general.
that's an amazing piece of advice. I have really no words to describe that.

Nick, I'm interested in more of your thoughts on how to stop the fastbreak and fullcourt press.
