I am thinking along the same lines as Piman. However, I have to ask, does a guy with two teams in different divisions in Naismith less than 1,000 miles apart as the crow flies really have any room to cry foul, referring to our OP of course?

There were a couple brothers who played in the same conference that used the same last name. I think they were somewhat active on the forums for a time.

You may be thinking of the A10 in Phelan. There are 2 brothers and a cousin in there with me. I’ve met 2 of them and had the unfortunate experience of seeing a picture of the 3rds testicles back when man junk Monday (or #MJM for short) was a thing. Either way, the point is that I don’t think it is uncommon for people with the same last name to compete against each other here.
