I'll add: Short series, pitching beats hitting.

Playoffs are extremely small sample size

WIS hates you. As in the system hates you and is making you lose. Feels that way sometimes.

Bad matchup or bad park matchup. I build a pitching and defensive team with small ball. If I’m playing an away series in a hitters park I’m in trouble.

ace pitcher decides to have a dud.

Bullpen decides to **** the bed.

Other team is rested. You burnt out your players trying to make the playoffs / get that first round bye (this is my excuse why Damag beat me last season)

Also your first point is bang on which is so frustrating.

you need 4-5 good to competent starters to get to the playoffs.

you need 2 aces to win the playoffs.

but if you have 2 aces with garbage 3-5 chances are you won’t make the playoffs.

This could explain my dismal playoff record. I don't think I have ever had a true ace SP. What is considered an ACE? Would either of the below guys be considered an ace?

I think that in most worlds, those guys are solid 2's, 3's on a loaded staff. I'm talking about on championship caliber teams.

I've won ws with worse. O'brien is a stud.

You're right. O'Brien is a true ace and Rosado isn't going to kill you if he's your best starter, but I still see him as a #2 on most teams that compete for a title.

O'Brien still has a couple more points of growth left too. Very nice grab at #18!

I agree with this assessment, actually. O'Brien's almost a 1-- is a 1 regular season-- but against someone like me who platoons a ton and who might carry an extra LH bat in a playoff series he's downgraded a little.
