I probably knew the answer to this at some point...but why do I have a player with a green dot by his name (on the GM and lineup screens).

Drafted in the current season and noticing dot. Thanks!

It was clicked on his player card. There are red, yellow, and green dots at the top.

Click the player card...there are three circles: one green, one orange and one red. I'm going to guess that whatever color dot is by the guy's name matches the color selected there. If it's not a player that someone else acquired for you, you probably just clicked on it by accident.

EDIT: Sorry for repeating a lot of what strikeout said. I started typing before anyone had responded :)

I use these to identify prospects in my system. Green is ml red is maybe. It helps me from missing guys in the rule 5.

Yep -- same here.

Green=Mlb prospect
Yellow= border line MLB candidate
Red= Even if he gets DITR, he still won't make it to MLB.

I do the same but flip the colors. I wonder why that is.

I think, for me, red is the more 'exciting' color, so the potential major leaguer gets my attention. The green ones are less exciting, and rarely get there.
I never thought of it in the Stop/Go context that others seem to be using.

I add all my possible prospects to the watch list and use the colors to quickly identify them.

thanks guys...I totally forgot about the dots...I must have clicked it. Not a system I generally use to tab prospects, but maybe I'll give it a shot. I got used to just tagging them all on the watch list and following them that way (have all my key prospects in one place that way, where I can monitor attributes and stats, etc)

I forgot about the watch list; went to Development Report and looked for the colored dots

I use the dots for prospects also:
Green: Potential star
Amber: Potential MLB starter
Red: Potential borderline starter/ MLB bench playerl

When I take over a team i use Yellow/Amber as Expendable.
In general for players under age 27:

Green - OVR projections >70 sometimes save it for def Catchers/SS under 70 OVR projection.
Red - OVR projects < 50

this helps for when i'm demoting/promoting and figuring out Spring Training squads.
