The Future of Democracy Topic

Will a Caesar return? Is a Democratic form government (which has been in ascendance now for only 200 years) merely an historical interruption when taken from a longer vantage point? Roman Republicanism and Greek Democracy were in ascendance for what, nearly 500 years? But they were eventually replaced by the more familiar monarchal and autocratic model that had also preceded them. All this is an aside for my real question, does democracy have a future? Should it? I am curious everyone's thoughts.

Since people on the right seem so open to being misinformed and grifted, this may be a legitimate question. You all are so proud of your ignorance. It's insane.

Hey man, while we're here, I'll ask you this question in return for the third time: Can you please name specific policies that "far left" politicians have passed that caused you to notice a shift in the country?

You seem to base your entire ideology on this premise, so it should be an easy question to answer. I'll continue to wait.

I have no ideology and I have no premise. I am in a state of flux. I am currently reading a biography of Napoleon while also reading a history on the later Roman Empire so I am asking questions that seem timely and relevant to me but may not seem so to others.

I do not know what the future holds, but I am not so dense as to believe that the patterns of the past determine those of the future. History teaches as it binds. It informs the possible while at the same time restricting it.

Sure, I was asking because of your first comment about the left becoming more extreme. I just want to know what policies you refer to when you make that claim.

Roe v Wade was in 1973.

Specifically referring to this and other similar arguments:

The radical left had taken over and were intent on shaming anyone who thought differently than them.

You said that because of the 'radical left', you would never vote Democratic again. That's an interesting perspective. I'm just curious what specific policies caused you to get this perception of the Democratic Party.

Preferably from the Obama Administration since you said you noticed the changes then.

What would make you think I'm a pacifist?

I simply agree we should go to heaven.

Do you think Roe vs Wade should be the law of the land?
