So I began my morning by doing something all3 never does: reading a book. This particular book is about the French Revolution. I was reading about how elections to the third assembly worked in 1792. Evidently voting was done by voice , in a public manner. The upshot of this is that conservatives, who opposed the revolution (and equality!), were afraid to vote, afraid to be seen as enemies of the revolution. According to this author, out of 7 million qualified to vote 6.3 million refused to. No conservative voices had the courage to speak up, what a beautiful thing!

Any case, this got me thinking about our upcoming election. Trump supporters should be made public (obviously I am not a Trump supporter). If you voted for Trump in 2016 we should know about it. The public pressure to make people vote responsibly and progressively might be the last chance to save this country. If you voted for Trump, you should have to proclaim it loud and proud. The shame will stop anyone like him getting elected ever again.

Am I saying cancel culture should extend to voters? Yes, I am.

Thoughts?

Dino, I'm sorry if by me mentioning reading it made you self-conscious. Just know you are a Girondin , even though you will not know what that means. Cheers :)

Salamander needs to crawl out from under his "special safespot" rock and see the real world.

Trump supporters round these parts are everywhere............ and LOUD, and Proud. They fly Trump flags on their Pickups (and their Quads!), and on flagpoles (right below their stars and bars!), they congregate on the streets of my town under tents hawking Trump merch (made in China!), yelling, waving placards and asking you to honk if you support Trump. Lotsa folks do.

Myself, I like to moon 'em.

I support your mooning of Trump supporters. Well done! But these people who publicly support Trump should be called out , their names published, and their employers pressured to take action against them. By continuing to employ these people they are actively supporting hate.

No. That's a horrible idea. Votes should be private. We shouldn't allow that type of voter intimidation because it could come back to bite us eventually.

Oscar Wilde fought heteronormativity and the patriarchy before it was cool. Approved (tho I wish he wasn't a dead white guy!!)

Let it be known, nothing in this world could compel me to cast a vote for Donald J. Trump. Thank you :)

So you aren't voting for Trump?

I am not in the business of voting for fascists.
