There are a lot of reasons WIS doesnt match RL. The park, the usage, the competition but I have used Ron Reed (early 80s setup guy 70-90 IP) He has pretty decent OAV and WHIP. I have had him 3 times in a neutral park and I swear the fool has had a 7+ ERA each time. He has been consistently bad, not just good for a while then 2-3 bad outings. I doubt I will ever use him again...

Any similar and consistent fails with other players?

Just like my All-SIM team thread, you could easily make a team of the top SIM underperformers. Willie Mays and Ken Griffey Jr come to mind right away!

That's why I included 2002 Pedro on my All-SIM team. He is much more affordable than 1999 or 2000 and performs great for just under $9 million. Haven't tried 2001 Pedro but imagine he is a bargain compared to 2000!

Serial disappointments include Mickey Cochrane and Mark Melancon just off the top of my head

I rarely get good performances from A-rod and Pujols. Wired huh?!

Right handed power hitters in general and those from 50’s & 60’s are particularly disappointing.

Yeah, I keep using Rocky Colavito expecting him to come close to his real-life numbers. It's the dictionary definition of insanity!

Mays is the epitome of underperforming... he doesn't even have eye-popping defensive numbers (compared to the A+++ cookies) that you seem to be paying for...

'18 deGrom is a bust on every team for me... I've used him at least a dozen times from $70m-120m, with at least 9 of those instances being $80m or lower and he's consistently outperformed by '11 Fister, '10 Lee, '11 Halladay, '02 Pedro, '03 Schmidt, '02 Lowe, and '96 Maddux. I just don't get it with him, he looks so promising, even from his PH, but those aren't the results I get.

That’s the story with ‘19 Verlander for me. Have never had a good performance from him at any cap.

2011 Doug Fister is one of my favorite pitchers too!
