Tone down the injuries. They are out of control now in every league. $20 million in training doesn't prevent anything.

I have seen an uptick in injuries since the arb/long term loop hole was corrected.

I asked cs they said nothing changed.

I have more injuries now in every league than ever. BS nothing changed. I can barely keep my minor league pitchers healthy now.
12/4/2020 10:40 PM
I don't feel like it's any worse.

Agreed with bripat42. IIRC, I was told long ago that in the early days of HBD there was at some point an outcry from the ownership so the injuries were dialed back. This version of the game we're playing is, according to that telling, THE toned-down version.

My only complaint is the fact that with 20/20 in med and training that players would go back to pre injury form. That has changed. I believe it was around the time the arb / longterm loop hole was fixed. Have the injuries increased? I do not know for certain other then ive never had so many at the ml level.

I would like to see more 1-3 day injuries scattered throughout the season. Things like the flu, pulled muscles, shower slips etc. That way depth rises in importance, you may have more game-to-game decisions, and maybe it results in fewer huge injuries that get people upset.

Injuries are a part of the game. My only complaint is that with something like a sprained wrist they don't get a full recovery. That's absurd. But the amount and frequency of injuries I think is very mild.

I agree with this. Why a minor injury should have a ratings hit at all is baffling. Increase the number of injuries (especially short term ones), but tone down the ratings penalty, and that'll be a sweet spot. Fix the medical bug first though.

Im ok with the injuries as long as they can return to prior ratings based on budget. If you have max budget then full return etc. I haven't seen the medical bug work for me for quite some time(used to work everytime). Although they swear nothing has changed lol.

I think an overhaul needs to be done with injuries. However, not on the injury frequency side, but on the injury recovery side. The "medical bug" isn't a bug (see Drew Brees; Adrian Peterson; Tommy John; John Smotlz; David Wells; etc.). We need to rename this something else. People that complain about it act as if it builds Greek Gods out of tryout camp players. All it does, if you're lucky, the player has a high makeup rating and your team has a maxed out medical budget, is help players reach their full potential. Any time this "Medical bug" gives a player a rating that is over his peak potential, it reverts back to the player's peak potential in that rating during the cycle that is immediately after the recovery cycle [for coachable rating; for training rating like power and arm, it will revert back after season rolls].

In my opinion, the recoveries need to be more like development cycles. In real life, the player gets injured, the doctors assess the injury and if surgery is needed, it is usually done quite quickly. There is a short recovery time before the player can start rehab. They need to implement some type of system where on these major injuries, the player has 60 days before his first injury recovery cycle, then every 30 days (regular development cycle), he gets more injury recovery bumps.

These early season injuries where the player goes down for 180+ days and only gets one injury recovery cycle are ridiculous. The way the system is setup now, an owner hopes that if a player gets one of those serious injuries, it is near the end of the season so he can get the recovery bumps the next season. As an owner, I shouldn't hope for a late season injury as opposed to an early season injury. Nor should I be glad that the player is going to miss time over multiple seasons, but because of the timing of major injuries and the way the system handles recovery, I am glad when a controllable player gets hurt at the end of the season as opposed to the beginning.

I had a young stud SP I planned on bringing up this season.
He was injured the day before I was to call him up.
20 medical, 20 training and a 97 MU. He's been on the 60 day DL for over 100 days and not a single injury recovery yet.
He comes off the DL in 8 more game days.

Ive had multiple like 8 + ml pitchers go down with injuries and get no where close to where they were before. I have never ran anything but 20/20 and have never had this happen. Ive been told nothing has changed but it used to not be this way.

Yes, the injuries that will fully recover in the offseason, you already know your player will not recover any or most of the lost ratings. No matter what your budget and the makeup are at. And any long term injury to a high quality prospect, you already know he will never reach his potential, which is not the case in real life.
