I love WIS. What I don’t love is how there are dozens of all-stars/all-NBA players/even MVPs who are “unplayable” in this game. They’re expensive and inefficient. In the real NBA, these are known as albatross contracts. Sometimes GMs are forced to sign or trade for a player like this due to owner request or lack of other options. We need a mechanic to make these guys relevant here.
Enter: the Albatross draft
47m cap.
2 players will be selected per team via a 2-round snake draft (48 selections) from a pool of 60 players (with specific seasons) who were real life All-Stars yet are rarely (if ever) used in WIS. You HAVE to draft 2 of these guys.
The rest of the 47m can be used for any players you want (no clones).
So basically you draft 2 players from a pool of expensive, inefficient all-stars, and then fill the rest of your roster with ANYONE in NBA history to try to lead your chuckers to victory. Every other owner will also have to roster two expensive+inefficient players too. Who is the best at turning coal in to diamonds?
The player pool will listed below.
- Draft order will be random.
- Draft will snake.
- 48 players will be drafted from a pool of 60 pre-selected player seasons.
- 47m cap
- To fill the rest of your roster, you may select any 10 players in the WIS database (no clones)
It’s possible in S2 that we’ll make some changes like removing the two players drafted by the champ, or something similar (up for discussion)
