I love scouting guys using good coaches above me in division/prestige's nets.

Great post! And congrats on your success this season. Looks like you’ll contend for the title.

Thanks, craigaltonw! It has been a fun season!

good post! without a doubt, you are on point - there's a lot of edge cases strategies and under-utilized turf in this game. its not that easy to find but its there, and it does tend to vary by world which is kinda cool. the lowest divisions may have more of this but d1 has a lot too.

Funny, I used this same strategy when I first took over Missouri (D1, Phelan). Missouri was a D+ with 3 straight seasons of 1 or 0 wins when I became the coach. Lincoln and Rockhurst had such D2 success, I figured the area had some decent D1 talent. St. Louis (SLU) has been an A prestige for so long, going after the very top local talent (against Kansas) and then Lincoln and Rockhurst were able to reach up and grab some nice local talent. I think I grabbed a few Rockhurst/Lincoln targets in my first two seasons to get some wins on the board and bump my prestige up. This strategy worked especially well in the first period of recruiting if I struck out on my top targets. I could check to see who Lincoln and Rockhurst were leading on and then swoop in and snag those guys taking advantage of the D1 prestige. Now, I use the same strategy you describe on international or far away recruits. Occasionally you can find a guy who's considering a higher prestige team (who might even be out of scholarships!) that you know is good enough to play at your school. Fun strategy and fun that you can use data from a good D2 team as a lowly D1 or as a D3.

That's really good info and kinda cool that we were doing the same thing in a different way. I do seem to remember your name popping up on recruits I was throwing some AP at but it hasn't been for a while. I think all three levels had champs from Florida this season. Maybe we can bring three 'ships back to MO some season!

Haha, and now Benis poached one of my targets at the last cycle before D3 can sign D1 recruits. We’ve come full circle. Fate is a fickle mistress. ;-p

haha sorry brother, I got into a pinch. Ended up only filling 1 spot out of 3 and taking 2 walkons. Been pretty lazy with HD the past couple months and didn't really plan ahead enough.

But I'm glad I could help with the other guy though!

Last couple months?! So if you can win the games ONLY 4-peat in history by being lazy, imagine what you can do with a little focus!

(I think there's been 1 or 2 more in the history of HD. But my statement sounded better without including those)

Hahaha no, no, when I got the 4 peat I was def not being lazy. But recruiting for those seasons occured awhile ago. Spring and summer.

Maybe Adam can inject some life into the game but my interest in HD lately has been waning.

if you don't count 5peats, stewdog (ga tech d1) and sim ai (arizona rupp) would be the other 4 peats. just fyi. benis's was the only 4peat in d2/d3 history.

*Bump* For those interested I just won the title(!!) with this squad and I think the only D1 projected recruit on my roster is Eversole who is just a true sophomore.
Totally awesome! Congrats

Congrats, HouseBert. Are you going to give a tutorial now on recruiting at D3? I need to learn from your creativity.
