My team just rolled over to a new season. Several player ratings are down a point or two, even young guys. Why would this happen?

We haven't hired coaches yet. I raised budgets this season for both Training and Medical. The guys weren't injured last season. The ratings are down for at least 10 players, especially pitchers. I can't think of why, unless it's normal that pitchers start the new season behind where they finished last season.

There is some risk of this for anyone 28 or older, and your training needs to get to 20 to minimize that risk. For pitchers it should be only in velocity and stamina. If you have players 27 or younger having this happen-- did you inherit a truly terrible training budget?

Post any of the players who are 27 or under, and remember that we can't see their prior season ratings, so point out where they declined. Also let us know what your training budget was last season.

Here are a couple examples...as far as Training budget, last season (my first) was $17mm, this season it is $20mm.

I'm going to go with bad coaching. Physical tools don't look like they were affected.

hmmm...bad coaches last season? we haven't hired coaches yet for this new season.

When did you demote Hermanson last season? Could he have taken a demotion penalty that you overlooked? And even so, that doesn't explain Barrios...

I would guess coaches. I keep $20m in training on all teams, and had the same issue you did on a recent rollover. I'm not always as strong in coaching as I should be.....

Barrios is on the ML roster. My pitching coach from last year has a 96 pitching rating and cost $3mm. He's been coaching for 26 years. Hard to believe it was cuz of the pitching coach.

I was wondering if ratings went down cuz they threw more innings last year. Barrios pitched 100 more innings than year prior, but Hermanson pitched way less.

Then thought it might be something re Patience/Temper/Makeup, cuz Barrios low on all 3...but Hermanson high on all 3.

Maybe it's just some kind of randomness built into the game?

Hermason would have been more effected by triple A coach and could have dropped if demoted after start of ST. Bererrios played roughly a third of the season with another org and was waived, so would need to factor other orgs coaching. These guys are at an age and experience were drops are not easily made up.

He said they dropped from when he had them. If that is true then something has change. He could be wrong and they changed from the start of last season. If that is the case then its a pointless issue.

the change/drop is in this year's Spring Training rating vs. end of last season. It happened to about 7-8 players under age 27. I just posted two for brevity. weird. just trying to figure out why so I can minimize it happening.

Here's a thought...I lowered my Advanced Scouting budget this season from $12mm to $8mm. Is it possible the ratings decline is because the budget made the ratings less accurate? I thought the current rating was always correct regardless of budget.

Adv scouting does not affect current ratings. Current ratings are the seen the same by all owners.
