i seriously cannot count syllables it is actually ridiculous. my daughter is 7 and this fact became very clear when she learned about syllables last year. so i made it 34 years thinking a haiku was 5-8-5, and this thread really taught me something. you know i actually noticed it was 7 in the first couple but then i thought, maybe i counted wrong - went back and got 8 on like 4 of them, and was satisfied i was just too dumb to count syllables but that the evidence was clearly favoring 8 again. this has happened like 4 other times so i finally made the connection about an hour later and googled it... sigh. i was hoping nobody would notice (lol)
