We will use this thread for the Indians draft. schwarze will be running this one, and we'll get started once I have the drafts all set up.
Draft rules are simple:
-- 25 round serpentine draft
-- You may draft any player in the WIS database who played for the Indians franchise (no twisting - you must roster a version of the player from your franchise. If you draft Nap Lajoie, you must roster one of his Indians seasons, etc.)
-- Partial/full/combined seasons are all ok.
-- Franchises are defined by www.baseball-reference.com. Please make sure you know your franchise history. The team was variously known as the Blues, Bronchos, and Naps during the first two decades of the 20th century, before becoming the Indians in 1915. Note that the 19th century Cleveland Spiders are NOT related to this franchise, nor are the 1890 Cleveland Infants.
-- Players are exclusive. There will be only 1 version of Nap Lajoie, 1 Addie Joss, etc.
This draft will be untimed provided things move along efficiently. I see no reason we shouldn't be able to get through at least 3 rounds on average each day. If any of our six drafts are consistently lagging behind that goal, or if one draft is way behind the others, I reserve the right to put any such draft on a timed schedule.
The rest of the league rules are also simple:
100M cap.
24 teams, standard WIS format
No WW, AAA, trades, clones, DH.
Injuries will be on. Please make sure you roster enough PA and IP to make it through the season. Themes like this really suffer – and are less fun for everyone – if one or more teams go into a fatigue death spiral.
Park: Any that the Indians franchise called home
And please remember: if at the end of the draft, any owner is unable to make a team from his 25 players that fits within the cap, they will be allowed to swap out players – replacing them with undrafted players from the franchise – but they will take a 2M cap hit for EACH swap. So if you replace 1 player, your new cap is 98M. 2 players, 96M, etc.
