So why 12 hours for job applications Topic

Why do we have to wait 12 hours after we apply for a job to see if we get it if we're the only one who applies? I am not talking about new jobs that open up during the change period - waiting on those make sense to people have a chance to know about it. But for jobs that have been open more than 12 hours (esp, those who havent had a human coach in several seasons) why wait so long?

I think it's still fair to give everyone a chance to apply who might be interested. Could probably shave it down a few hours but 12 ensures every user has a chance to apply for the job they're interested in during the first window.

You have no clue if someone has applied to it or not so

Where can I find info on how often job applications are accepted?

From my experience, its every 12 hours. If a job just opened up, check the time that the old coach left the position on the "News" page and then add 12 hours. If the job has already been open for 12 hours, then I'd assume the decision to be pretty quick (within an hour or 2?) I think the time is reduced on the final day but I don't know the exact amount.

job applications are processed on the old recruiting cycle times, 2, 5, 8, 11, am and pm (EST)

of course, as these other folks are mentioning, usually at least 3 or 4 cycles go by before you get a response to your job application.

i do not think this is correct generally, although it is sometimes?

if a job is open for 12 hours, but nobody has applied, and then you apply, you are probably waiting at least 12 hours or so. the fact that it was open before you applied, doesn't just cut out that wait. i don't know any of us pay enough attention to say whether there is any impact or not, like, maybe it reduces the wait slightly. but mostly, i don't even think it does that! except perhaps late in recruiting (where the time table does seem to be faster).

however, if a job has been open for (a while), and there have been applications in for a while, then your application does not 'reset the clock'. meaning, if the school was about to get dished out to someone, then you applying late, you don't really push back that decision - maybe you push it back a cycle or something, but definitely you don't reset the 12 hours or so waiting period. so, in this case, behavior along the lines of what you are saying could happen - you might get a very quick answer. however, this is because other coaches have applied some time ago and are due answers of their own, not because the job was already open for 12 hours.

also note that if you are going to get hard rejected, like you do not even qualify, then you get this answer back at the very next cycle.

I actually got rejected for a job I was "qualified" for first. Oh well we will see what happens.

funny, it seems like the jobs stuff about displaying qualified / not qualified is still kinda screwed up from the jobs / resumes change a year or so ago. curious, what's your loyalty and reputation looking like?
