Promises and Chance of Leaving Topic

I'm wondering if anyone has some data on the % chance that a player leaves after getting the 2nd angry email. The player in question has started every game, but is only averaging 21 mpg after a 25-minute promise. On the plus side, despite his anger he's got a +4 to work ethic. There is only 1 game left this season (1st round CT exit) so there isn't much else that I can do.

I've never received that 2nd email before so this is new territory for me. Even just a vague, general idea would be helpful as I begin to prepare for RS2.

your odds are probably not great. however... what is your post season outlook? i would not necessarily give up yet. if you are PIT or NT bound, those games can help save your bacon.

i would do the math. most players need 22.5m on 25mpg. look at the games since his first complaint, ignoring foul out games where he played less than 22 or 25m (i'm not sure which). you could be as little as 0.1 under, and in that case, you'd be wanting to play the guy as much as possible to make it work.

if you are like a dozen games since his first promise and more than 1m under, there is probably nothing you can do, but i'd definitely do the math and make sure its out of reach before assuming. if you can't get to 22.5 since the first complaint, you are probably done. but even if you can get there since the 2nd i would probably try to make that happen. i've had 2 complaint guys return (without getting an all-clear), but promises have changed since then.

Thanks for the response gil. I didn't keep track of the date of the 1st email (deleted it), but the 2nd one was on 8/31. Since the 2nd email (excluding foul out games), he's averaging 22.7 mpg over 10 games. Overall on the season, if you exclude foul out games (5), he's averaging 22.4 mpg. There won't be any additional games as the PIT/NT aren't in the cards.

At least there's a chance right? Lol.

Edit to add: Unfortunately my 1st round CT game is against a FB/FCP team. Nooooo!!!!

'Overall on the season, if you exclude foul out games (5), he's averaging 22.4 mpg.'

my understanding is, if you get this up to 22.5 by the end of the season - and note that rounding up probably isn't enough - you are probably fine. either 22.5m from 1st complaint on, or from start of the season on, counting 5-foul games if and only if they help you - i think is going to cover you on a minutes complaint.

p.s. who the f deletes fake emails from their HD fake email box? i can't even imagine deleting emails from my real email, not to mention the plethora of gmails and other assorted backup and alternative emails, and especially not something as menial as sitemail. but a couple steps down from all those is the HD team inbox! doesn't cleaning that up take you into full blown psychosis territory?

Yes, I like to keep a clean inbox in both HD and real life. I have a problem.

The 5 games where he fouled out were 15, 18, 15, 19, and 7 minutes so not helpful. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for the help!

its ok. i have the opposite problem. i have a folder of folders of stuff i've been too busy to read and its got 400k messages in it

You needed some “foul trouble only” games in there. That’s why you have a couple sims on the schedule!

I delete every single email the minute they come. Except the most recent grades. Drives me nuts having pages of emails.

I've never dug that deep. When they get more tired, don't they foul more? Almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy? I'll definitely try it next time though. Thanks for the tip.

I'm the exact same. The SAT qualification emails drive me nuts haha.

Update after last night's game: my guy played 31 minutes in a game that went to OT. Hopefully that's enough for this convoluted calculation.

Nice coaching to plan for OT and get the extra minutes.

"Alright guys.... I know we can win here with 5 seconds left, but I need you to dribble in circles until the clock expires. Trust me."

Sometimes they get into foul trouble and top out at 17-18 anyway. But more often, he ends up with 35+ minutes in those games. You just want to make sure they are games you can win with a tired freshman on the floor most of the game.

Thanks man. I'll try it tonight on a couple of my top shelf freshmen on a different team.

I typically do one at a time, personally, make it a hazing thing.
