Yeah I’d take the OBP since you’re playing in the Astrodome.

Raines 100%. Plus if you put him on 5SB he’ll steal 120-200 lol

I'm assuming $80M OL. Raines really isn't cheaper as his $/PA is approx 10% higher and missing 132 PA, and won't be enough as a full-time I'm assuming leadoff. As to what sounds like your specific quandary, the net of running game and defense is about a wash. That means hit tool comparison with SLG minimized at leadoff. If you're not worried about the missing PA, Raines by a mile.

By the way, batting average does matter to whatever degree you want to factor in peeling away the layers. But Raines has the edge there as well whatever version of it you use. I notice you're not using advanced rates in your comparisons . . .

Those are your only two choices?

I second this. I could give about a dozen options that are pretty much better across the board that cap.

I would generally recommend against paying for 677 PAs where the guy has A ratings on both fielding and range, you could get the same fielding by drafting a guy with 550-600 PAs and putting him at the bottom of the order

80 North, bat him 9th. Higher OBP+, you lose 140 PA's and a little range but you save $2m. I get .280/.380/.300 lines from him often @ 80m. He's on pace to steal 50 bags in one league right now.

Sorry, I'm not paying anything for .292 SLG. I can do better than that throwing darts...

I see your 1886 Stovey and raise you an 1889 Stovey

I’d take 86 or 87 Stovey over 89 for two reasons:

1) Price- for +/-$7m there’s a lot of guys who are great
2) PA’s- with 773PA, he’s got about 100 more than you ever realistically need and so are spending salary on waste

but I’ve never actually used him and I’m a little intrigued by how he’d perform :)
