Very true...just really loved Crawford's defense, speed, and 3B ratio. Raines is probably better overall and cheaper
I'm assuming $80M OL. Raines really isn't cheaper as his $/PA is approx 10% higher and missing 132 PA, and won't be enough as a full-time I'm assuming leadoff. As to what sounds like your specific quandary, the net of running game and defense is about a wash. That means hit tool comparison with SLG minimized at leadoff. If you're not worried about the missing PA, Raines by a mile.
By the way, batting average does matter to whatever degree you want to factor in peeling away the layers. But Raines has the edge there as well whatever version of it you use. I notice you're not using advanced rates in your comparisons . . .
