Did that ever happen? If not, is it going to?

Did that ever happen? No. Is it going to? Probably not. WhatIfSports is run by a shoestring (very small) staff. A couple years ago new staff people came aboard. The new staff talked about changes and updates to HBD. Only a small portion of what they talked about was ever actually done. In the last few months they have gone silent in regards to updating HBD. They need more staff overall but it appears WIS is not making enough money to support hiring.

Last update from admin was the ballpark update was ready to go and will be implemented the next time they push an update. Whenever that is.

Yes, it did. We started a new season in Mantle. I am playing as San Antonio. The original park was:
Nelson Wolff Municipal Stadium
San Antonio, TX
310
356
402
371
340
-4
-4
-4
0
-2

On the ballparks page, it is now:
Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium SA Ironroot Harbingers joekendall 310 356 402 371 340 0 -1 -4 0 -1

Aha! Thanks for the heads up, Joe. Pine Tar just rolled, where I play in Tacoma. The old Cheney Park used to be -4's across the board. Here are the ratings for the new Cheney:
Cheney Stadium TAC Sounds Puget bjschumacher 325 385 425 385 325 0 -1 -4 -2 -2

The Ballpark update was just announced a little bit ago today which surprised me.

Personally I don't like it. By making most pitcher or hitter friendly ballparks more neutral, it takes away a strategy many owners used in HBD. I enjoyed making my teams match up with the ratings of the more extreme ballparks. With most ballparks now similar, why even have ballpark ratings anymore?

The new ballpark list that they pinned in the topic above is inadequate. We don't care about dimensions. We want to know the effect on singles, doubles, triples, homers to left, and homers to right.

These guys don't seem to understand their game from their customers' points of view, and that is a problem
.

One thing I don't think they understand is that most of their customers like a wider variety of ballparks. I never heard anyone clamoring for a blander ballpark list.

scroll to the right. And you CAN highlight everything and copy it all into Excel.

They claim the more neutral set of ballpark ratings matches the way current MLB ballparks are playing. I agree with rbedwell, not what most customers want though.

Everyone has seen many suggestions in world chats as to what changes they would like to see in the game. Never once have I seen someone post, "I wish the ballparks played more like the current ballparks are playing!"

If they really wanted to increase customer interest, they would have put in classic ballparks instead. Polo Grounds, Tiger Stadium, Sportsmans Park, Griffith Stadium, etc.

People have designed their teams over many seasons to fit the way their ballparks play. Now all of a sudden they no longer fit, in many cases.

One thing I liked about the old ballpark list is that it included which ballparks can be used in which divisions. It would be nice if that can be added to this new list.
