I am playing a 10 game season. My first experience with this sim. I think it blows. It's set up to manage games as if it's 2022. I have starters who had like 20+ complete games, but nobody has even gone 7 innings yet after 8 games. Every game uses 3-7 pitchers as if we are playing the games now, even though my team is full of players from 50 - 120 years ago.

1902 Togie Pittinger had 35 complete games in 46 starts and threw over 400 innings. In 3 starts he has gone 6.2, 5.1 and 5 innings. That's phucking ludicrous. He should have at least 2 complete games in 3 starts. I won't be playing this sim again.

This game is definitely not for you.

Start by having Pittinger's target and max pitch count to 120 and don't pinch hit for him.

Yep,He will probably never throw a complete game if PH is checked

OP may be a lost cause, but let's try to be helpful and not discourage other newer players from posting here.

yeah as an owner you have a lot of control over how long your starting pitcher stays in the game. if you set his pull setting to 1, his target and max pitch count very high, and uncheck the pinch hit option, he will only be pulled when he is getting shellacked.

Sparky will manage exactly as your settings and hierarchies are set. That goes for any and all your pitching and batting decisions. Pitch counts, PH and PR settings are crucial. Inning available and rest settings dictate what Sparky can and will do. 15-16 pitches per inning is a place to start when determining pitch counts. I recommend not letting slow runners or low steal success runners to steal. Baserunning aggressiveness is very important, and can make up for not stealing. Don't blame the manager if you have tied his hands with who is available or when. Fatigue is something you will need to deal with in the first 1/4 of the season. Stats are based on 162 games, so 2 innings pitched on opening day is a pace for 300+ innings. Plan accordingly, pitchers will need several games to recover in some instances... Learn to do what works before blaming the sim engine...

Something worth noticing about pitchers is their actual IP/G stat. It tells a lot regarding how far a pitcher can go in a game before in game fatigue becomes a factor. Cannot be overlooked...is important when setting pitch counts.

Another thing is when you draft a pitcher, you are buying pitches, not innings. Elbirdo's formula is somewhere in here, is very good at determining what that number is. It's worth searching for.

I've never seen any pull settings or pitch count, where the hell is that?

Okay, I found them but WHY is the default setting for a modern style 5-6 inning pitcher?

What it TPC and MPC?

Total pitch count?

They had guys with over 200 innings pitched set at 75.

I tried to reset TPC to 150, but when I hit "save settings" it just reverts back to the default.

About your pitchers you should see a “advance settings”. From that link will pull up pull setting, pitch settings, and auto rest levels. For bullpen you can set up when you want them to be available.

I highly recommend spending some time on this forum and reading some of the older threads on pitch counts, fatigue, and what to generally expect from this game )because it is just that.)

ive been on this site since 2001 with a couple breaks, and I absolutely love itX but you get out what you get in. Ask questions, be open minded and have fun.

if your number one goal is to simulate RL, there’s probably other sites that are better. I hope you continue to try it out and give a full season a try.
