Lots of fun! $255M. Draft 6 200K pitchers. The rest goes to offense. Yes, your pitchers will be completely fatigued in the first few days. That's the point. Outscore your opponent! Hit home runs! Walk! Ridiculous games! YES to clones and DH NO to waiver wire, trades, AAA. You're stuck with your pitchers. Please draft a lot of plate appearances. You'll need 'em. Multiple teams allowed per owner This is not supposed to be realistic. It's just some fun. Join the fun!

Some of my favorite moments from my team so far:

21 Babe Ruth just went 14-14 with 15 runs, 27 RBIs, 7 homer, and 5 walks in a losing effort in the last game

01 Nap Lajoie went 15-15 with 15 runs and 15 RBIs in 15 plate appearences

And the other end of the spectrum...

2 strikeouts over 21 games, lowest mark in the league.

Brett Kennedy giving up 78 runs in 5 innings in the opener.

Hello Everyone, thinking about potential future iterations of this league. What type of changes would you like to make that would keep you interested? We've had five proposals thrown out there so far. Which one do you like? What other options would you propose?

Option 1: Raise the pitchers salaries to $500,000. This would enable the pitchers to last a little longer, while still giving hitters a mega-advantage. This also might enable some pitching strategy, rather than the current strategy of "put them out there and try to stay out of the way of the line drives."

Option 2: Raise pitcher salaries to $1M. This would enable some pitching strategy to exist. Would you want some quality but low innings? Or is it all about innings?

Option 3: Allocate $10M for pitching. It's still mostly terrible pitching, but at least you could theoretically put a staff together. So there would be some strategy involved in putting the actual team together with a home field that fits.

Option 4: Outfielders only. In wondering how to score more runs, an idea was thrown out that if a team had to play guys out of position, a ton of errors would be made, and each error is another plate appearance. Hence, more opportunities to score. Babe Ruth at catcher?

Option 5: Flip it. $200k hitters and use the rest of your money on pitching. Would anyone hit over .100? Would anyone hit 10 HR?

What are your ideas? What would be interesting, fun, challenging? All while still remaining at least somewhat ridiculous.

Elbirdo ran a league years ago is which he picked six 200k pitchers that were most likely to give up the most home runs. All teams used those six pitchers. All teams were in Coors. All of the position players and the DH had to be Babe Ruth, no other players. All of the errors led to very high scoring. There were no divisions, only two leagues. The team with the most home runs in each league went to the world series.

Some of those leagues that Elbirdo and Nasty_Llama used to run were fantastic. I remember a league where you were required to play every player out of position where they had no ratings. The passed ball numbers were incredible. There are many ways to try to drive up runs. I like the league as it's going now. I'm just curious if anyone is not having fun and thinks a change or two would really improve things.

Fun fact: best HR/AB for catchers: Javy Lopez at 28%, a fraction above one of the Piazza. Sometimes I forget how great a career Lopez had.

I wonder if we can break any records?

All depends on what you want to see a few thoughts

1. Playoff spots to 4 teams with most runs scored in each league
2. Playoff spots to 4 teams with most runs scored + allowed in each league
3. Playoff spots to 4 teams with most runs scored in each league with a .500 or better record
4. Playoff spots to 4 teams with most runs scored + allowed in each league with a.500 or better record
5. Specify pitchers stats i.e OAV .300+ HR/9 1.5+ / ERA 5.00 +
6. Max Cap on pitchers i.e. spend no more than x million on pitchers
7. Spend no more than X per pitcher buy as many as you want!

Thanks for the ideas, akira_hokuto!

Personal best of 152 runs today. Nap Lajoie drove in 28 of them.

Nap loves this league! So does skunk206 with the league's best record. Well done, skunk206!

What is the highest run total in a game so far? We scored 171 yesterday.
1/26/2023 10:50 AM
I believe the high so far is 178. I still think someone will eclipse 200 one of these days.
1/27/2023 9:50 AM
This sums up the league: One game I give up 181 runs, the next day I chase the opposing starter by giving him a line of 0.0 IP, 12 hits, 11 BB, 8 homers, and all 23 batters he faced scored before he was pulled.
