An unfortunate end to an otherwise fun league. I had to disqualify Redwingscup from the playoffs because of the 600 PA rule. He missed it by 6 PA. I had been checking periodically throughout the season to make sure guys were on schedule to meet this requirement and the 4 spot checks I made indicated that everybody should be ok. Towards the end of the season (when it became more critical to do so) I failed to check figuring that everybody would be ok. I was wrong. I am sure that it was an accidental oversight on his part but he in fact did miss it. He missed with Gary Carter. Being that he was in the WC hunt the whole way I am sure he would have made sure to get Gary Carter more PA. I am very sorry and apologize to Redwingscup for failing to take notice and issue a warning.

I'll post the final scores in the morning as has been my custom. I just don't feel like doing it right now.

While I have to admit I'm bummed about losing my playoff position, it was totally my fault that Carter missed his 600 PA requirement by a mere 6 appearances. I was aware of the rule earlier on, but it sort of faded from memory. I really don't see it as Winnetka's responsibilty to warn players when they're going to blow it. The fact of the matter is I could have moved Carter up in the order, but I didn't so will now follow the playoffs from the sidelines. Good luck to all qualifiers.

I understand now the impact of range on +/- plays. My team sucked there cause I didn't draft good range. I opted for above average defense ratings and strong pitching. That reduced my errors. My team ranked reasonably well in errors (rank 8th). League average for errors was 121, I had 104.

What impact does range have on wins is what I am trying to figure out. I don't know that I can.

Looking at Seamar's teams though strongly points out the impact of early pitching on errors. His team from 1970 had 149 errors and his 1920 team 232. Both teams had the same position players. His 1920 team won 98 games with 232 errors. His 1970 team won 88 games with 149 errors. Both teams had similar numbers of + plays and - plays. The increase in errors didn't hurt his team but then they were in different leagues playing different opponents so that adds to the variability.

Fits like a glove and Take one for the team tied for the best # of errors. they both had 58 well below league average.

League best in (+) plays was a runaway. Rime of the ancient hurler had 212 the next best by hand in glove with 184. Hand in glove had the lowest # of (-) plays with 2. Doppleganger1970 had 3.
