Jeff,

Sorry to be late to the party.  Please add me to the list.  If you don't make the 112/120, please add me to the waitlist.

Thanks,

Eric

There's still hope of making 112.

I'm in.

If we can get to 112, then we'll go to seven 16-team leagues.

In order to keep the playoff bonus points consistent, I've worked out the math for the bonus points in a 16-team league format.  Under a 24-team league format, 8 teams (33%) make the playoffs and thus get bonus points.  So, 5 teams (31%) in each 16-team league will get bonus points.  Here's how it will work.

Team with best record in league not to make the playoffs = 6 points (this is equivalent to making playoffs and winning 1 game in the wildcard round)
Winning division = 12 points
Winning the LCS = 6 additional points
Winning the World Series = 6 additional points
Plus, you will still get 1 point per playoff win.

So if you win the World Series, you will accumulate 32 points  (Under the 24-team format, winning the World Series is worth 31 points).
If you lose the World Series in 7 games, you will accumulate 25 points (compared to 25 pts under the 24-team format)
If you lose in the seventh game of the LCS, you will accumulate 15 points (compared to 16 pts under the 24-team format)

Let's get 8 more signups!

Not sure how I feel about 16-team leagues instead of 24...

Yeah, I have to say, I'm not really sure how I feel about the 16-team leagues either. More prize money is always good though. And the really good owners would be spread a bit wider ;)

I assume the finals would still be 24? Or would it be 30?

I think we're going to end up with 96 no matter what. We aren't getting to 120 and we might lose a few people if we go with 112 and all 16-team leagues.

The final round will still be 24.

I'm also not fond of 16 team leagues. any chance of 4 24's and one 16 for each theme?
bonus points look heavy.
Never even considered that option.  Let me give it some thought (although I'm not a big fan of non-symmetry)

The proposed bonus points for 16-team leagues essentially duplicates the relative bonus points for 24-team leagues.  So a team winning 95 games, then winning the World Series would score approximately the same in both formats.   The catch is that because there are more leagues, there are more teams getting playoff points (i.e., if 112 teams, then 42 leagues = 42 World Series winners instead of 24, etc.).

To keep the cumulative bonus point totals roughly the same, but a slightly decreased bonus per owner, I can simply adjust the 6 and 12 points to 5 and 10 points.  (So this essentially spreads out the extra 1-3 points per team across more teams).

Not a huge fan of 16-team leagues.  Love the wild card chase.

I concur. Wild card adds excitement for me. May not be a bad idea to have everyone involved post something about the league in other leagues they are in. I found out about it by someone mentioning it in one of my leagues. I had somehow missed this league until someone said something about it in a post about a week ago.

Well, we need to get to 112 by Friday.  That's when the GC purchase deadline is and when I'll be releasing the rankings and league alignment.

I also prefer 24 team league's to 16 team leagues.  It has nothing to do with bonus points which I agree are about the same.  I think it is more enjoyable to play with the wild card option rather than without.

agreed.  prefer 24 to 16.
