OT: OFFICIAL UNSUSPEND LEGARRETT BLOUNT! Topic

He had already been suspended this season for "undisclosed team rule violations" and now he shows again that he is unable to control himself. He needs to enter anger management, concentrate on his courses and throw himself into a vigorous workout regimen to show up at the combine and prove he's got what it takes to succeed at the NFL level. Unfortunately his actions thus far do not indicate he is likely to have the character to do so. I wish him the best, but I don't expect to hear much about him in the sporting world again...

By the way, I only caught a part of the game but I am curious as to why Hout said something to him. Is Hout just a total idiot or was Blount maybe talking during the course of the game?
[/QUOTE]On ESPN, they said Blount was saying how Oregon would kick the **** out of Boise. Hout went up to him after the game and asked Blount what happened. Blount then retaliated by punching Hout in the face. I agree with tmacfan12. He acted like a thug and should be treated like a thug. He could of just blown his whole NFL career with that one night. He was a 2-3 round pick and the 2nd best rb.. now he is lucky to even get drafted
Nah. He will be fine. The Bengals love to draft guys like this.

The team has had issues with Blount before, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise to see him suspended for the season.

What amazes me is there are no repercussions for what Hout did between the taunting and putting his hands on another player.

If Blount misses with that punch is there even a discussion? Chances are he would be playing in the next game.

He is a troublemaker. No doubt about that. He needs some sort of help dealing with his problem. As for not hearing from him again, look at Maurice Clarett. He did much worse and teams were still giving him a look. Granted he didn't go anywhere but teams were willing to look. With Blount, this is not a bigger issue than Clarett and when it's all said and done teams will give Blount a look and someone will give him a shot. I think he is undraftable but some team (Cincy, Oakland, etc) will see his talent and at least see what he can do.

Clarett was before Roger "The Hammer" Goodell took over the NFL...

Goodell has nothing to do with blount getting drafted and getting a chance at the NFL

Blount is lucky he is still on the team and has a scholarship and is not in jail where he should be. Any NFL team that drafts him deserves what they get.

Absolutely untrue...teams are going to be very wary of bad character guys in the draft now...
9/7/2009 2:35 PM
Why are teams going to be wary? They're not wary now and they won't ever be. Teams are always looking for the next big thing no matter of attitude. It's been that way forever.

Who was the guard who Mini Camp and still got drafted in the late 1st/early 2nd round this past year.

Teams don't care.

Guess time will tell

I can understand a player being fired up and doing this. He does need to be punished.

A full year seems fair to me.

As a test any of you guys in College some time in the future after a tough test punch one of your classmates in the face and start screaming at the Professor (or probably a TA) and see what happens to you!

If one of the classmates comes and starts pushing me I'll call it self defense.

You try running into one of your classmates as hard as you can and dragging him to the ground... and see what happens to you. Football has different standards.

That being said, I agree with the suspension - sure, Hout was being unsportsmanlike, but a lack of sportsmanship is different than a sucker punch by an order of magnitude.

Football games has different standards. This was not on the field, or even just after the play.
