Sounds like he is taking over the team just for this season, probably as a favor for the commish. So next season, $14M would be possible for the new GM
Exactly.

I agree. Even with 4/4, you should be able to get a sense that some prospects are legit. For example, you see a pitcher that projects to 90 CN 75/75 splits. In reality, he's 75 CN and 65/65 splits. Still would be a decent pick to make.

Consider the possibility that a guy you think won't sign waits several days then accepts your first offer, that has happen to me.

Other things to consider. Even though you took over a abandon team you will be stuck with the budget restrictions for next season, so next season you will have a 8/8 Max for budget.

I'm not coming back. New owner will start with 10/10 and could go as high as 14/14 if they so desire.

Very good point. I'd have to be careful about putting the "probably won't sign" guys at the top as opposed to the "undecided" guys. If I go that route.

Here's the other problem....let's say the next owner has 3 1st round picks, maybe a couple of seconds and a possible comp or 2. Where are are they going to find all the budget money to sign all these guys, especially if they have Int. budget as well....just my 2 ¢.

I had three 1st round picks and a supplemental pick, and I am unable to sign my last first round guy. Of course, I only budgeted $10M for prospects, because I didn't think I would get the last 1st rounder and the supplemental. If you go in knowing you have that many picks, you should have no problem getting them all signed.

And speaking of the guy I can't sign, he bumped his demands to $2.2M. All I have is $1.7. I have tried offering a ML deal, which puts his total at $2.6 but he won't sign. Do ML deals not increase the value? And if I received this pick from a Type A, if he doesn't sign, will I get the pick next season?

These are good reasons for the next owner to go Very Conservative so he can budget for slot money with all those high picks.
