Personally, it looks like a case of someone 'fishing' for a good team. I remember when this owner was in Mays (he was in my division) that he had almost no previous experience but was in about 8-9 leagues at the same time. Looks like he kept the best and discarded the rest
that is my suspicion also - but I would like to here it in 1st person - particularly since keeping a team competitive (without trade rape) is almost as difficult as getting it competitive.

Could be looking for a good team. I've had a couple teams where I joined jsut to help out and right an abandoned franchise. I also had a 2nd team for a while but realized I didn't really have the time to run it and pay attention to it as much as I thought I needed to.

I would suspect that there are others that will tell you that they after a season or two because of commish changes, massive ownership changes, and other fundamental shifts in the league's character. I believe that this is a legitimate reason for a "one and done"

Really?

And, yeah, I think most "one and done" owners are seeking a team/league to their liking. Of course, one could say "Do a little research and save yourself a lost season" but I guess that would require a bit too much work for some.

the rational for an occasional "one and done" could be any of the reasons mlhutch lists. My question however was "why repeated "one and done"s"

I've got 2 "one and dones" to my credit and it was simply that I needed to cut back. I was going to cut down to zero, but somehow rationalized keeping one would be fine. So I kept the most competitive private league I was in.

I'd love to have kept the other two, but time/money play a big factor.

That sure sounds like an expensive way to find a good team. Or maybe I really AM as cheap as my wife says....

at the very least its inefficient. For 8 one / two season and dumps looking for a "good" team, you can build a good team from just about any situation. If you spend the better part of an HBD decade at a team and cant get it turned around, you're doing something systematically wrong

It's like playing the lottery. You know that $5 ticket isn't going to hit. But you buy 10 of 'em every week. At the end of the year, you've spent $2600 on nothing. You could have bought something you were hoping to get with your lottery winnings with that $2600.
