pc more than anything makes him a bl catcher

hopefully not a full timer, but he could be a backup on any team

He will be fine as a catcher unless you play in a division with "that owner who steals bases" Some leagues have him some don't.

From my looks and experience though I wouldn't imagine you would get much in return for him in a trade. His bat is ok, his arm and accuracy are fine. His PC is good. Guys like him seem to be available cheaply as free agents. But that was not what you were asking.

Pitch-calling is the rating du jour... put forth as the Holy Grail of ratings. Blah, blah, blah. It's a rating like any other rating: it has its uses but it can be WAY overrated. I see winning teams with sub-50 PC... you want higher, sure, but it's not a death knell if you don't have it.

Btw, Mike's trade-rape attempt was vetoed by 16 owners. Ouch.

Quite the contradiction.

A 58/55/75 guy can't possibly be a catcher but ratings are just ratings? PC is way overrated but AA/AS IS the Holy Grail of catching?

16 haters. 15 of which have probably already made offers for the same players. 'tard world when I tried to save it, 'tard world now.

And to be clear, the other owner has 17 seasons under his belt and a 37-30 record in the world. He had a need(cap space to sign his draft picks) and I obviously agreed to the best offer he could get in order to sign the 31st and 36th picks in the draft.

Of course, now that I've done the work, I'm sure one of the vetoers will offer a slightly better deal. And it will go thru because no deal has been vetoed in 3 seasons until today.

egads he is from Lodi, NJ I wouldn't want him on my roster. Nothing good comes from Lodi.

Wait is this thread about if that guy is a big league catcher or whether the trade was fair?

11/6/2009 12:11 PM
Part of the "complaint" about the trade was the potential of said player.

My plan was to have him as part of my BL team as the catcher vs. LH pitchers. People said he wasn't a catcher. I disagree. I had no plans on discussing the trade until jsturgis5866 brought it up(the trade was still pending when the thread started). As I said yesterday, I didn't have the pitcher this morning, I don't have the pitcher now and I might now have him tomorrow but I'll somehow live. When 16 owners veto, I'll assume it was bad enough. But I also make no friends in 'tard worlds I'm trying to "fix" so I'm not surprised when I get a few "extra" v-bombs. So it's over as far as I'm concerned. We'll all move on. Unless someone feels the need to discuss it.

...as I breathe a sigh of relief...

The guy is a borderline major league catcher. I have 4 differentratings I give prospects (non-prospect, decent, solid, and stud). Id give him decent, which means he could make the major league roster as a backup or platoon player or play in the big leagues if I suffer an injury, but is not the type of guy I would build as my catcher of the future for a team that may have a championship shot.

I would also give the pitcher you were giving away the same rating. And the guy you were getting back was a stud or very close to it.

'nuff said.

What's the matter, Mike? Truth hurts?

No name-calling.
