Brian Bechler with 4 pitches.....the last 2 above average...not that great splits.....and yet dominating the league thus far......why is that?

In a relief situation, I might favor #1. If you are coming in to only get one or two guys out you dont need to be playing around with show-me pitches. I would prefer every pitch my reliever throws to be quality.

I just got a team about half season in another league...and that pitcher seems to be pitching way out of his" usual" so any advice on why could help me in the future.

sample size too small. look at his career numbers. average pitcher.

almost 3 runs per game under his career numbers......just one of those years I suppose.

Gail Latham than there is my ace starter, whom everyone is already trying to get from me....4 pitches, but not as good as Belcher, but has alot better splits.....but yet Belcher is pitching better......I guess it is all confusing.

Again, look at career numbers. Plus those splits on Latham are not just good - they are great.

I am confused.....I see alot of pitchers with great control, and 4 or more very good pitches....that perform well.....and most of them have 50-60 splits......but everyone says to go after the pitcher with top splits, and control... I was also told to try and build around my ballpark..

Congratulations, schedule, you would seem to have the best grasp on the game of any of us, because you (the one) are the one that CS agrees with. Here's the scenario that led to my initial post:

Hey, I said #1 was the better RP option. And self-aggrandizement aside, this is fascinating.

CS has stated that velocity and pitch quality are the primary factors to late game decision making. VERY interesting. Thanks for posting this.
