My concern is this - only a select few franchises can win this league. After rotating back and forth between those teams several times - it's the same players. I suggested some changes before last season. My WIS playing days are now down to a select few leagues - populated by my WIS friends. Again. I suggest changes be made in this long running league.

1. League format (12/24 or the old 10/10)

2. Each season features different era

3. Limit the number of HoF ers...

Something that would level the playing field a bit....and allow for a different approach to picking players. Something to add some "life" to a league full of great competitors and outstandng WIS owners! Let's take advantage of a few of the many options available.

Having said all of that...I will once again suffer the fate of choosing a team that has NO CHANCE to win in this league....I take them for the right reason...they are MY team and they are in my DNA.

But I will be a whipping boy one more time.

I agree. I ran 14 franchise leagues, each with slightly varying rules (the Non-Hall of Fame Leagues, from 2 updates ago).

More often than not, different franchises made the playoffs every year, including expansion teams. Every time I tweaked the rules, I made sure the expansion teams had a fighting chance, not just crossed fingers that every player would be an overperformer.

The Astros may be the only expansion team worth trying (and they won't see .500), and no one in their right minds would pick any of the 90's teams with the expectation of any success (that is, winning more than 40 games).

Even then, teams that date back to the 1800's still struggle (the Pirates for instance).

I'm not sure what the best option is at this cap.

Good discussion. I am trying to think of what teams have won. I have seen the Yankees, Cubs, Red Soxs, Indians, Tigers, Cardinals, Giants... not sure who else as I forget a lot. With the recently revamped salaries it seems like Yankees have bigger advantage. I have taken certain teams every other rotation or so knowing I will not win but try. Dodgers, A's, Phillies, White Soxs.

Here's the thing too...this league has been VERY SUCCESSFUL and well run by one of the ourstanding owners / commissioners for a long time. The Astros may well compete...but the roster I would pick might not vary more than a couple of guys from the one you would pick. This league at 160m was one of the first to play at that level and it was great fun trying new teams. The rules forcing a switch of franchises is a good one. My suggestions are not meant to complain....I use to be pretty good at WIS...at one time I was 500+ games over .500...and made the playoffs quite regularly. Over time I think I've lost the "inside Knowledge" and draft expertise to compete at the top. BUT I still have fun...play in just a few leagues....only my favorites. Probably haven't been in an "open" league for 5 years or more. My suggestions are just that....just a few tweaks would open the door to making more franchises more competitivve. Never understood why the Dodgers can't be more of a threat. I know they have sneaked in a few times...but it seems like the Yankees, Indians, Red Sox, Giants, Cardinals and maybe a couple of more have won...but some of those are rare. Just a thought...I am committed to playing - this league is a good one. I know it will be considered and changes made if it's good for all. Thanks for all you do ncih to make this a great league. The NLE is on a roll - look out!

I would be open to making changes.

Let's track to see who makes the playoffs in the next version.

If it's the same teams, we can look at making some changes.

It would be great if someone could post the records of each franchise in this thread for this version.
