I totally disagree with that. Some people rest their starters in blowouts. Some play younger players to up WE and cores against worse teams. It would change the effect of promising minutes. It would be bad for the game and bad for player progression.

YOu can cap the effect to mitigate that. Say "Five points or less, 5 - 10, ten or more"

As an example/.

Sure, but I see the possibility of bad results there. And you should be against that entirely. Imagine trying to win a tiebreaker from the Upstate-Wooden by using margin of victory. Aren't you already at enough of a disadvantage by playing the best coaches/teams in the country every night? Now you're going to be penalized even more by not beating them by enough while I'm over there at Hamline beating up on six sims?
12/28/2009 10:55 AM
I don't really care if I'm at a disadvantage, as long as everyone is theoretically at the SAME disadvantage.

I've held my own and won the conference tournament several years in that conference.
12/28/2009 11:12 AM
Well yeah, because you're one of the best coaches/teams in the country every year. But I now get a bunch of advantages on you because of my conference - I'll generally have more wins, a better conference record, and better last ten. And it's not because I'm a better coach or have a better team, but only because I play lesser competition. Now, on top of that, one of the tiebreakers should be to give me another advantage only because of my competition?

Theoretically everyone will be at the same disadvantage, but practically this will only exaggerate the want to play sims.

In a more concise way: this only helps the people already gaming the system by playing mediocre teams with good records.

WHoah< YOu said that, not me. I'm not going to claim to be as good as Even PRofessor17, Dalter et all. Nu - uh> Nope. No way.

Haha, so is your argument is premised on the fact that you aren't a great coach ;)

You are a very good coach regardless.

And that still doesn't totally address my overall point that this only exaggerates the current flaw in HD RPI/SOS.
12/28/2009 11:30 AM
I think I coudl be moderate to good with some good years and some bad years and a penchant for taking on hard luck teams and trying to scratch and claw with them/.

Problem is, NOT having it leaves some OTHER flaws in:
12/28/2009 11:34 AM
But those other flaws are already in. Margin of victory wouldn't eliminate those flaws, it would only create another one and, I think, make it worse.
12/28/2009 11:39 AM
Meh. Thats a matter of what you consider worse flaws. YOu have a different weighting than I do.

Regardless, were I doing one, it would have a whole suite of differences to it: For example, having the 'Road game RPI' bonus based in some concrete manner on the actual home game advantagte of the other team. Beating an a+ homecourt is more impressive than beating a c+. And other things.

RPI should factor in margin of victory.

whose to argue you aren't the best team when it comes to rpi? well, anybody who can do the math of the rpi formula, for starters :)

maybe you are asking who is to say you aren't the best team in actuality? well, i am, as the coach who howard payne behind. but, that is beside the point. to be the best, you have to beat the best, and it is really is that simple :) good luck with them by the way!

I'm no web designer so I do what I can...shocking that my haters would disapprove. I align the page because I can't figure out how to center align the ads so I'd rather have it aligned than misaligned.

What other changes could make it neater?

Content over style.
