I know some coaches use to run a - and dt the other teams only per shooter, I don't think that is a viable gp anymore since I do think dts have been broken for a while.

Once I get a baseline to judge things on I was planning on looking into dt and see what I can find out, I do not really have a good real life (?) HD baseline to compare them too tho since you can not use them in a fcp.

Just an idea. But would be interesting to see a team alternate playing games between a +5 and a -5. Then compare the effects of all the - games vs. all of the + games. I.e. Opp 3%, Opp FG%, Reb Margin, TO's, Steals, Fouls, etc.

Note: I would use the alternating between the two settings to try and minimize the effect that player improvement might have on the results. For example if you ran +5 for the first half of the season then -5 for the second half you might EXPECT different results due solely to players improving.

The best time to compare +5 defense versus -5 defense is against a conference opponent that you play twice. If it's a human you should arrange for him to play the identical gameplan both times, that way there is only the one variable.

Yes that would be ideal. But you still have the problem with a very small sample size. Doing it over a whole season, will give you atleast a decent sample size. In this case we'll have to roughly stick with the central limit theorem, because frankly I think there is too much variability for a 2 game experiment to tell us much of anything.

Note: I will be trying my idea out for my D1 American U team.

I want to see how many points 1 player can score in the new engine.

My team has 7 bigs, 2 SF and 3 guards. I'm leaving the pg at foul trouble only fatigue. He's 95 stam. I want to see if fatigue makes a difference from what I've been seeing (which seems to be little to me).

I'll also be jacking up the O and D to like 30 min each to see if they learn at a quicker rate. My team is fastbreak, which I've never ran, so I'll be switching that to either triangle/motion which I'm more familiar with to gauge any differences.

And yeah, my team is flat terrible, so I may try to run the one man show with 100% distro even though my whole team is terrible.

Two variables - HCA counts, too.

I was wondering about the possibility of seeing guys playing out of position often.

A main thought that I've always had was a disdain for the predetermined positions given to recruits out of high school. I'd like to put a player into any position I'd like without an additional penalty. If I am dumb enough to put a 22/22 bh/p at PG then the results should be bad enough on their own.

EDIT - I was late to signup and didn't get a team in time so I am unable to run my own experiments.
