Greatest DII Player of All-Time? Topic

i would consider ratings a better measure than post season awards for the greatest d2 player of all time...

I had some pretty decent players at S. Connecticut St.:

Patrick Young ended his senior season around 950 overall with 90+ in everything except DE and LP.

Do you also consider Vince Carter the greatest SG in history?

I mean, I get what you're saying...but the fact is ratings have changed over the seasons. It used to be, if you got a player with high WE and redshirted him, you'd end up with a monster down the line. I absolutely don't think Smith is the highest DII rated player of all-time, but winning three NPOYs seems to indicate he was the best player in Wooden DII for the last three years...can anyone else claim that?

Just to reiterate that point, Richard Morgan was probably the highest-rated player I ever coached, but he was somehow awful...didn't even lead his team in points or rebounds despite heavy distro.

He averaged 13 and 10 as a sophomore and was POY? Weak year I guess.

Don't forget the 2 blocks and 2 steals per game

274 seasons and 0 titles? Didn't admin say that is the record? You gotta try awfully hard to fail that much. In under 35 tries I have 3. That also includes 2 other runner ups, 2 final fours and an elite 8 trip. Every other one (until my 2 tank jobs on caldwell, and 1 at king's) was sweet 16 or better. If I had as many seasons played as the other coaches I would have just as many or more then them too.

*yawn*, congrats furry on beating up on coaches still learning the game.

You don't have 35 tries. Lord knows how many seasons you played on other names (i'm guessing well over 100) trying random things with free teams.

Lemme know when you get to D1 against some real coaches and start winning k?

I know there was a D2 guy who was an early entry a couple seasons ago. I thought that was pretty impressive, but I don't know how high he was drafted.

It makes me sad that I have a guy whos every bit as good if not better (95 reb, 99 LP, 69 ath, 38 speed) who after his junior year has only won 3rd team all conference once.

i think only awards, stats and wins should determine best player ever player. ratings should be irrelevant; they would only lead to a player being great.

I didn't know that a d II player could get drafted.
