I am starting a new league of players that never played in the major league. You can take their elementary, junior high school or high school stats, twist them to their best year. You can even use their softball stats. You can use your favorite little league park. I'm taking Eagle Rock School park with the short center field fence.

im starting a league where we will get up to 8 or 9 teams...then sit for a month...

then we'll disband it.

What if you wait two months?

Why don't they just put a time limit on when leagues have to be filled? Like 60 days or something.

What would that accomplish?
1/17/2010 7:54 PM
It would accomplish nothing. If a league is taking too long, pull your team out. Simple solution.
1/17/2010 7:56 PM
Yes it would, the league then would disappear and no longer exist.
1/17/2010 11:16 PM
It would eliminate all those unfilled leagues.

And unfilled leagues that have owners interested in them are a problem because ...? I've had leagues take six months to fill. There's no reason for an arbitrary time limit, since each owner can decide for himself that it's taking too long and simply leave. New players show up all the time, and the more options they have to choose from, the better.

Ok, maybe I'm not hearing the complaint correctly. I understood that people were mad because there are so many unfilled leagues. This could be eliminated by setting a time limit on when they need to be filled by. If they aren't filled by that time then the league is disbanded. Simple. If this isn't the problem then I'm sorry for making a suggestion.

You did read the problem correctly and indeed your proposal would address it. I think the questions about your suggestion have more to do with the idea that it would fix one issue bothering a few players while creating a new issue that would bother a far higher number of players.
1/18/2010 10:13 AM
Why would it create a new issue? Players would have 60 days to enter a league. Is that not enough time? My suggestion would just eliminate the leagues that haven't been filled in a long time. If 60 days isn't long enough make it 180. If that isn't enough time then I don't know what is. Is it better to have a bunch of leagues and nobody to play them or a few quality leagues in which people could get down to business and play, because isn't that what it is all about? What good is a league if it is never played? A waste of people's time in my opinion. I understand you want options, but can't you make a decision in 60 days time? I don't get it.
