If you go anywhere besides the Freedom conference in Naismith your nuts. Its the best. Only problem being you may have a hard time finding a spot, Wilkes is open for next year, but are in pretty bad shape. We might lose one coach a year. Very helpful coaches with any questions. Won the last 2 national titles. Top 5 in rpi for most of the last 25 season (usally one or two). 3 coaches who have been there 20-30 seasons. Constant banter on the message boards. You'd love it.

gene, those 5 conferences are just as competitive all of us in those 5 conferences below the big 4 arent bad. The ASC was the winner of the whole ball of wax. All we need is to get all those conference up to 10 human coaches in each. ECSU in little east might be running a ghost ship which is bad for us.

Its bad when a team woudl be improved by going SImmy.

I am overwhelmed by the response and welcoming to each of your respective worlds and conferences.

It is nice to see that there are conferences where humans play rather than Sims. I find that no matter what I say to Sims they won't comment back, like they are better than me. I guess in a way they are because they seem to be able to recruit from all over the country.

My dilemma is do I reserve a team now in one of the recommended worlds or wait until after the end of the season to see if a better team becomes available?

As it stands right now, several of the conferences that are recommended have no openings. In other conferences, the few teams that are available are in bad shape. My definition of bad shape is low prestige (C- or below), and have extreme class imbalances.

Recruiting against other teams in all human conference will be tough as it is. There are usually a number of B or greater prestige rated teams. Plus I personally like to have a reasonable balance of players per class.

If I take a team now, I can be sure to be in one of the better conferences. The downside is I will have 5+ years straightening out the issues with the team. Like 8 sophomores, 7 of which I would have never even considered. If I wait, I may get lucky and catch a better team in the right conference from someone that is moving up/on. But then again, maybe not. If no one moves, or I miss the good teams that become available, I could end up waiting for another season.

It would be great is you could sign up for a world and then have to option to bid for jobs based upon your sign up date, rather than be stuck with the team you picked.

Once again I turn to all of you for recommendations. Thanks.

I say you take polo up on his offer to coach his alias' Wooden team. We start tomorrow and that conference is very active. Tough to pass up a free team.

come play in wooden, it's better IMO to play in a conference where you have a active CC, that's a lot of the fun of the game. also anyone can become a great coach in a sim filled conference but it's a lot different against human coaches.

if it is not too late to suggest, the Northwest Conference in Smith is great. it is always has at least 6-8 coaches and is consistently top 3 in conference RPI. we are competitive but certainly not cutthroat - we always help each other out. 4 of us have been there for 16 + seasons.

The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference also has 6-8 coaches each year as well in Smith and seems to be a good conference.

Thanks everybody for your help. I have chosen to join the Midwest Conference in Wooden starting next season. I will be coaching at Lawrence.

I appreciate all of the comments, suggestions and offers provided by everyone.
