Multiple offseason adjustments in Knight Topic

if they do anything, they should do it quickly before recruiting starts - or folks will start to have done stuff based on their teams as they stand and it gets harder and harder to unscramble the egg

I don't think they are going to do anything, and I agree it's not the end of the world, but it is going to have a significant impact on this season. Given the # of Sophomores on my it is going to help me I think, but if I was all freshmen and seniors, I would be annoyed.

Hey guys, I've tried to think of a way to correct this issue, but the way the season rollover happens it's just not going to be possible. I really do apologize, and one of my goals going forward is to improve the recovery and error handling of the HD processes.

Thanks for the note. There were some issues with the season rollover in Knight so it's quite possible that the offseason improvements ran a few times. While it's obviously not ideal, it would be impossible to correct at this point. It affected all players equally.

Seble, do you answer all the customer support tickets?

I have a hard time believing that the error affected all the players equally?

I don't answer every ticket, but I did answer that one. By "equally" I meant that every team went through the process the same amount of times.

Really no saved data on this? No way it could be recreated? That is a crappy system..Just cant believe there is no taped backup from which they can go back to and then move forward. I

m not in Knight, but multiple off seasons is a huge advantage for coaches who are at the right point in their "cycle" as has been said if you are all seniors or have a bunch of WE 10s well you got screwed and no it is not teh end of the world, but it ain't what you paid for.

i am pretty surprised by this. the same problem has occurred multiple times in the past and in all cases CS was able to recover the data and resolve the issue. maybe something was different between those cases and this one? seems like that would have to be a pretty critical difference...

I'm not there either, but to characterize it as a potentially huge advantage/disadvantage is pretty accurate. It could very easily add or nix a whole season of improvement to particular players.

Thank god I am not in Knight. I would be going off about this since I typically go after lower WE recruits.

I wish I were more careful monitoring offseason changes - I usually figure that I cant change what happens, so why calculate.....but I do think this will have some effects....hard to know it will all percolate in the context of potential etc etc.....but it will help some teams and hurt others.....and one can guess that 2/3 of teams will BELIEVE that it hurt them

Mistakes happen, seble apologized. That's good enough for me.

If I were in Knight, my response to this would be simple: are we paying customers or not?
3/30/2010 9:23 PM
That is BS that they won't do anything. Its not like they can't either. When there have been other issues with players/ratings they went back and re-ran them correctly. IIRC they put players who were signed back in the recruiting pool, they gave coaches players back who were cut etc.

If this was something where only half coaches got improvement, but others didn't it'd be fixed. The fact that everyone got the improvement twice, seble thinks its not an issue. But, the fact is a 100 WE player and 1 player will now be MUCH different then they should be. Jucos will be better, FR will be the same. SO's will be pretty much jrs now. This had a big impact and gave some coaches a pretty big advantage, while others got hurt. The fact Seble doesn't see this or think it should be fixed blows me away. I'll have to really re-think picking up more teams now that it looks like the old CS is back.

Fascinating how some of you know precisely what WIS can and cannot do.

I agree with cornfused. Im not in Knight...I dont think (lol I have too many teams).

But seriously, this is not a free site. $10 doesnt mean a damn thing to me, but as someone in the sales/customer service profession, I think WIS would need to give some type of credit towards owners in Knight since they could not fix the problem.

I guarantee there is someone out there that had a good team and was hoping it was his/her season but was dinged by a crucial player with low WE.
