Agree. Maybe a coach that built up a lower DI program?

I'd be for this change, but only if firings are made more prevalent too. If we're going to give the worse coaches a shot at the BCS jobs, then let's fire 'em after they suck.

Haven't they said a number of times "Mid major' 'non big six'?

COmbine making the mid majors easier to obtain with making the big six harder to obtain. There you go.

And because those schools are easier to obtain, big 6 schools automatically become easier to obtain.

Its simple. If a coach has to build up a D+ program its gonna take him some time. It might take him 6-8 seasons to finally have a good run and a good enough resume to make it to a big 6 school.
Now if a coach comes in and maintains a B school, its going to be much easier and might only take him 3 seasons to build up enough success to jump.

This is a bit off topic, but still relevant, I think. One odd thing I noticed this last jobs period was the lack of differentiation between D1 jobs that were available to me with my D2 team vs. my D3 team (in different worlds).

I've been at my D3 team forever (30+ seasons) with modest success (perennial NT team, but rarely make deep runs). Every D+ or lower D1 job was available to me.

I've only been at my D2 team for 7 seasons, but the last 3 included a Championship Game appearance, a Final Four and Elite Eight. I was qualified for C-minus jobs and lower.

So in essence, a very successful 3-year run at D2 only gave me a third of a letter grade improvement in D1 job opportunities compared to what was available from my D3 team.

Granted, this may not be apples to apples because it was in different worlds, and because of my very long tenure at my D3 school... but nevertheless, I would have expected significantly better jobs to have been available to my D2 school, compared to coming out of D3, but they weren't. That doesn't seem right to me.

As long as there was still a minimum requirement, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

The lack of differentiation between jobs available to successful D2 coaches and "long" tenured D3 coaches is part of my gripe with the current system. Heck the same could be said about the D1 jobs available to coaches in D2 who have excelled versus those that have just eeked by the minimum qualifications. I am not concerned with a fast track to the Big 6 conferences and if it means increasing the requirements to be considered in those jobs so be it. But the mid majors should be more attainable and a sliding scale in regards to those jobs seems to be the best way to fill those jobs for the time being.
