How long does HBD CS usually take? Topic

13 guys who have never played and 25 guys with 2 seasons or less. I can't see how this would be bad for WIS.

CS said that they'll allow new worlds at least few weeks apart. They also said there were a few other owners looking into new worlds (ACERO and tanner, i guess) and to either work with them or try to get the requirements independently.

Well I've got 32 guys, 28 have less than 2 seasons played and don't currently have a team, 14 have never played.

Hopefully WIS will give us a league!

WifS should probably create a non-refundable 3-pack. It won't force people to play three seasons but it does force them to commit to BUYING three seasons. That might convince a few guys who are ready to bail to stick around and learn the game. It can be frustrating early on.

I'm sure you guys have good intentions, but this sounds like a recipe for disaster. You mention 28, but I'm guessing you meant 18 have played 2 seasons or less. That means 18 guys have played and not enjoyed it enough to continue playing. What makes you think this time will be different?

Also, the washout rate for rookies is pretty high so its doubtful that all 14 of your brand new rookies will come back.

As I mentioned, it sounds like you all have good intentions, but this kind of setup has a great chance of having a ton of openings moving into season 2 and becoming another high turnover world which is the last thing HBD needs.

Not to mention that when a rookie starts HBD he has approx a million questions. Your setup would have 14 guys asking 18 others with barely any experience and not a lot of answers to their questions.

Just food for thought.

Can someone explain to me what the big deal is? I'm not being a smartass, I just don't get it. How difficult would it be to fire up a new world when you have 32 guys waiting? I'm just curious to what the drawback is.

About 18 months ago HBD had a huge supply and demand problem...like 10 public worlds waiting to rollover, but couldn't fill. WIS had to give out hundreds of free seasons to vets just to fill the worlds. They also had to merge bad public worlds together.

It sounds great to start a new world until you have 10 openings the next season. (not saying that would happen here, but it happened in the past...a lot).

Supply and demand.

It used to be anyone could create a new world and try to fill it. What happened is there was way too much supply for the demand. WIS gave away free seasons to fill the existing worlds. That worked for 1 season, but most of those owners bailed after the free season.

Leagues sat open for weeks. I think they even combined some worlds.

So they put a stop to new world creation, and the demand has become such that worlds werent having a real difficult time filling.

If they allow unlimited new worlds to open up at the same time, the result will be that a) there wont be owners looking to fill slots in existing worlds, and b) a large #s of owners will eventually bail on existing teams while starting over in a new league.

Of course my world is already started. But I see some of the rookie owners that are in Powers signed up for these other worlds. Im concerned that they wont stick in both. And when we get ready for season 2, I will lose the selling point of it still being a 'newer world' If there are multiple new worlds out there.

Unlike HD, HBD worlds sit idle until they completely fill. Thus, worlds that don't retain owners or quickly replace them each season sit open. Worlds that sit open don't produce revenue. When too many worlds have this problem (like what happened in the recent past), customers can be lost because they get tired of waiting around. It becomes a big, cumulative, mess.

Filling a new world is not the only concern. Making sure that world retains owners and rolls quickly each season (without passing the problem along to other worlds by taking their owners) is also a major concern.

That's not to say the proposed new world won't be good for WIS, but there are more things to consider than just "32 guys waiting" to start season 1.

I like it. I think that if they make it very clear that it is a final sale and not refundable in any way, and make the price attractive to newer owners ($65 for 3 seasons), this would be a good idea. Hell, I'd jump on that.

I always felt that they should discount muti-season packs more than they already do, but I also understand they are running a business. It's just that as a broke college kid, it would be nice for myself as well as the website to be able to lock in for multiple seasons at a more reasonable price.

I (the LIVE group) sent in a ticket 6 months ago and only now were we told we could go ahead with it to start in June.
5/5/2010 3:54 PM
Im sure that ticket got forgotten about or dismissed until you presumaby re-opened it. I was given the go-ahead right away.
5/5/2010 3:59 PM
I am sure it was, I was just saying that they do not just say hey some guys want to start a league go for it. They looked at supply and demand when you send in a ticket.
