IG - u seemed to track the math of this stuff more than me, in the old game my gut said about 2/3's of the attempts were due to shot distro charts, and 1/3 random, steals, fastbreaks, and off rebounds.

I think that is fairly realistic actually, but anyhow, the new game I am guessing the distro chart account for more like 85-90% - it will give coaches more control, but will actually make the game less realistic game to game.

I have hit a point I really don't care that much - either way works, or can work - it is not near as big a deal or fix as some might think and is not going to be near as positive as some of the negative things we will eventually have to deal with as the kinks get ironed out.

as I said, no reason to worry about it, the new engine ship has sailed out to open waters - we all can pitch in and paddle or jump out and swim for shore.

8 games into the latest simulation in the test world yielded much better results. To recap, under the last rendition I had two guys set to have over 2/3 of the distro. After 15 games they had about 20% of my team's total shots and had less shots than a couple of guys with 1/10th their distro. This time around they are combining for 54% of my teams shots. The two guys set to -2 3pt frequency have combined for 3 outside shots during this period.

It does seem that the distro problems have been sorted out. The one thing that does concern me from the latest batch of test world sims is the overall team shooting % still seems a bit high (basing this off of the number of teams shooting over 50%). However, I think this is due in large part to there being a large number of sim/ghost teams as opposed to an engine issue. My exhibitions in Allen and some of the others that I looked at showed more normal results.

Cyben, remember though that we had no issues in the test world with what Allen/Smith are going through. So it was a problem in the transition, not in the test world.

westcoast, I can't speak for the rest of you, but I certainly did have these issues in the test world. You can find my posts about it in a couple of threads further down. I'm not going to go rehash the details again, especially since I did in the post just above yours, but if you'd like I can find you my original post.

While I didn't have those issues in the test world before the transition, I did have them there after the transition. I can only assume that seble made some minor tweaks around the time of the transition.

Regardless, whether or not the issues stem from transition or a pre-existing condition in the test world engine, the test world was and still is testing the current engine as implemented in Allen/Smith. Any data that we can gather from that is invaluable as it gives us an opportunity to look into it before it becomes an issue in a live world.

cyben, I do agree that FG% seems too high. I have been reading a lot of boxscores and the loser has shot over 50% a lot of the time it seems. WAY more than the old engine, whatever that is worth. It will take a little time to really analyze that though.

or, we can can hide out in our cabins, grumble about the quality of the food, complain about nausea, and ask our bunkmates "can't those idiots paddle any faster?"

and, of course, our bunkmates might reply "They are using the wrong type of paddle for this water, and half of them are not employing correct paddling techniques... we'll probably die of starvation before we reach the land."

and we might respond: "the salmon quiche is so bland that I think I would PREFER to die of starvation"

Could it be a transition problem of Players created in "old" engine, versus the new engine itself?
