Building the bump-n-grind m2m team Topic

For those of you who can't see my recruits (so people not in Knight), I am getting two guys who in my opinion will be LOCKDOWN defenders. I'll post the info for the two guys (including potentials) when I sign them (8pm tomorrow), but the C has 10 LP.

I was only being a tiny bit sarcastic...I think this mix of abilities can be found in the new recruits, probably best at the D II level...I will try to build something like this running motion and m-2-m

My Westminster team is pretty much what you described. It's easily the best defensive team (D3) I've ever had, 67 team defense and should break 70 this season. I'd gladly trade some of that defense for better BH and another scorer, but we've done alright. TOs are definitely an issue with this strategy.

The recruits for my defense only team:

In my opinion one of the most important factors for a solid defensive squad is really great team rebounding. Just something to consider

May was the best combo of ATH/DEF/REB I could find. He will do all those things very well. He just won't score. Wyatt is going to be really fast (high/high potential) and he is going to be a good defender. He'll have below average BH and passing, but like I said before, I'm willing sacrifice that. He has low potential with per, but a lot of my successful PG's have low per's, so I like the 30 per and probably the 10 LP.

I agree with tkimble. In d3, no recruit is gonna be perfect so you have to make some sacrafices to get the style of play you want

Look at my records tab under rebounds for Carlos Diaz. He was a very similar player to May. Freak athlete that even ended up scoring some. Of course, that was many updates ago.

By the way, if you get great DEF ratings across the board and put in 20+ practice mins on M2M right from the start, you don't necessarily HAVE to recruit great REB. If you have awesome perimeter defense, you can often play "-" defenses to pack it in inside and boost your reb stats. My Wisc-Superior just finished a season with 6 freshman plus a walk-on, and allowed 29% 3PT the whole season - even though I played -2 and -3 in most of my games. The key was having 3 guards / SF's with defense ratings of 63, 79 and 87, respectively.

Don't get me wrong - REB is still a great-to-have, esp for your big men. My point is just that you can build a really good M2M defense in D3 from the inside-out or outside-in.

how athletic were your perimeter players?

Here were the ATH / SPD ratings for my guards and sf's who got the most playing time:
40 / 58
53 / 72
64 / 52
43 / 63
24 / 54
16 / 66

I was often running a HCP / M2M, so I valued speed pretty highly.

I have decided to start practicing a FB offense. I'll practice that for 15 and triangle for 15. Good idea?

I'm curious, what's the logic behind practicing two offenses?
