Right now I see one public world with exactly one opening trying to fill. And mostdays recently there are no leagues that have gone public with openings. That tells me that supply and demand says we need more leagues. As long as WIS does them one at a time and allows several weeks between leagues I don't think there will be any problems, barring a mass exodus from HBD.

The other world has no clue if they will even be allowed to play. Someone said new world and a bunch of people signed on.

We started though admin and it was a long process. It was not as simple as just finding 32 owners 8 who were new.

The 24 new worlds at the end of the year would be misleading because as of now it would actually be 30 new worlds in a calendar year if they keep up at this pace. If they end it with these 4 new worlds that is fine but that already is not possible since it is actually 5 new worlds. Nevertheless, the main problem is if they keep letting this happen. Like I said initially, a handful of new worlds each YEAR would not be a huge problem but a handful every couple months is. At this pace, HBD is heading into another dark period.

You keep assuming that other group is going to actually be allowed to start a world. Are they?

There are currently 10 worlds with 0 days . 5 are public which means 5 are private. Most of these worlds will need at least a few owners. I have a world that currently has 5 openings. I have asked a few people if they were interested and many said I am waiting for a new world. I am sure I am not the only 1 with this issue. There are plenty of worlds in the classifieds needing owners but many just don't want that. Also these worlds aren't being started with several weeks in between. It is hardly even a couple weeks.

I have no clue. I am assuming, but nevertheless 4 or 5 doesn't change much in my thinking.

Its not so much the difference between 4 and 5 but if no one has asked admin from that group then maybe admin is done making new worlds for a while and that number will stay at 4 and not grow to 30 as you are worried about.

Exactly. The fact that they have allowed 4 worlds to start in 2 months in no way whatsoever indicates they will continue that pace, or that they will open any new worlds in the future.

My guess is they monitor openings/world fill time and will halt new world creation if/when it becomes necessary. In the meantime, they are getting a lot of new players to HBD (at least 32 in the 4 newest worlds) strictly through word of mouth from existing customers and worlds are still filling relatively easily.

I hope so...

That said, Maris world is about to lose over half it's owners (after losing 10+ last season) due to WIS not caring at all about public worlds and most of the owners (nearly all of which played 10+ seasons there) tiring of it. It will be interesting to see how long that one takes to fill if there are other options.

Umm 2 things, I thought Maris was just told they could go private, or was that Gehrig???

Other thing, there are some big win and loss totals in that world. How much of that is playing into teams leaving?

I've said this before...new worlds aren't the problem, lack of quality worlds are.

WIS doesn't really do anything to ensure worlds are quality.

I think there was a whole different thread about this, so don't want to rehash everything, but in summary, Maris was a very strong public world with many many long-term owners. About 3-4 seasons ago, we collected a couple tankers/troublemakers. WIS refused to remove them. One guy in particular finally was so blatant that WIS did remove him. He then re-upped and joined the world again after rollover. WIS refused to remove him. He then was so blatant once again that he was removed. Another guy was also removed for tanking only to be reinstated after complaining.

Throughout this, these few guys are really disliked in the world and it seems the whole topic just causes world chat blow-ups all the time.

That is what killed the world. Ridiculously low standards for tanking. Refusal to enforce the standards. Bad luck in getting owners that cause issues. And now a bunch of guys forced to play together (or leave the world) that really dislike each other.

After this rollover, I think we will have lost 2/3 of the owner base (that was basically stable for 10+ seasons) over a 2 season span. I have no idea if we can go private now (we begged WIS for this for many seasons), but it's too late for this world. Maybe it will build up a solid base of owners again over time, but it's a mess currently.

That is crappy. Thanks for the quick summary about it.

To the best of my knowledge, six public worlds were offered the option of going private. Gehrig was one of them. Maris was not.
