In the old engine, guards rarely got more than 3 or 4 rebounds per game, even those with good rebounding ratings for their level of play. I was in favor of giving them more chances, yes, especially off 3-pointers and contested shots that are bound to clang off the rim and go flying further than better looks. But, as WIS did with recruit generation and outside shooting, they went too far with it in the other direction, and rebounding as a whole needs to be looked at and changed significantly. Good to see Seble plans to do that, and I really hope it produces a desirable outcome.
