The problem isn't that you can't take it off late in the season. It's that you can put it on. There needs to be a deadline for applying a RS just like in real life. Either go with the end of exhibitions or the end of non-con.
I think that you should have to have put a RS on a kid until the 15th game of the season (unlikely anybody has a player that hasn't played that they can still redshirt at this point anyways). But you should be able to REMOVE the redshirt at ANY POINT IN THE SEASON. If you can't do that then this needs to be fixed. Or injuries need to be banish ASAP.

With the way the new depth chart functions, it's alot more likely now than it was in the past.  In fact, I had a kid with a simiar situation as Pork and slapped a RS on him somewhere right around the CT, but only because he hadn't played and was eligible for it.  No objections from him, but it wasn't like he was gonna play any that late into the season anyway.  I did it as more of an experiment to see what his WE would do.  It stayed the same.

Also, just out of curiosity, why 15 games?

Looks like the player is back to normal. Was it Roy Pearson? Well his WE is back to 78 and he took the redshirt.
yeah if so that makes it worth it, I think, trading off one bad offseason for an extra year.  Heck, that could even be a real option for a guy who won't take a redshirt at the beginning of the year...just put him on "rest" and at the end, stick it on him (provided he hasn't played any minutes at all).
Isn't the "rest" option only for injured players? Regardless, if you give a scholarship player 0 minutes for the entire season, his WE is going to take a decent hit anyway, right?
Pump, if he's a Freshman who wasn't promised anything, his WE won't drop whether he plays 35 minutes a game or 0.  Not saying it's right, just how the system works.........
