sully is right (for once)

i know that some folks are questioning the "real" motives of recent HD-retirees like myself.

I guess maybe if the new engine had "knocked my socks off", maybe i would have stuck around.  but even that is a catch22.  one of the reasons i am leaving is that there are just too many things on my plate and , while i realize i could coast and not post and basically reduce my involvement to 5 min a day or so... thats just not me.   so,  to me, a better engine would be, in some ways,  a bit more complex and would require MORE of my time to grasp the new things.  and maybe more time in the long run also just because a more complex game means more thining, more strategy, more time.

So, the things that would have "knocked my socks off"  would have probably resulted iin me leaving also.

So,  they were really in a N0-win situation as far as trying to retain oldavey as a paying customer.

I agree with sull that the new recruits are fine.  that was defintiely a move in the right direction and i am a bit sad that i wont be around to see how it all pans out when the good teams no longer have their whole roster 90+ in all the cores.  plus some of the interesting non-core stuff.

i do think there should be fewer limited-upside and more big-upside.  the goal in my mind would be to get to a point where there are strategic decisions about where to put practice minutes.  potential seems to have screwed that up in my mind.

anyway, for me,  its just time.

and, i think,  for what its worth, that emmy had lots of points in his inital post.  you may not agree with him.  but to say he didnt have any point is assinine.

ODB - You can't leave...the Big East CC would not be the same without you.

Some see the glass as half full. Some see the glass as half empty. Some see there is twice as much glass than is necessary. I like the new engine for what it is attempting to accomplish. The aforementioned 90/90/90/90 was a major issue as were other issues this new engine addresses. However, I certainly understand the complaints that we are still beta testing as we play although I believe that there were reasons beyond seble's control that led to this.. I think a lot of coaches don't like the fact that now they have to put more effort into searching for recruits. They don't like not being able to just grab player X and mold him into whatever they wanted him to become. Other coaches don't like the fact that the Press isn't automatic magic anymore. You actually have to have the right players with the right skills and IQs to make it work successfully. Still other coaches are upset with the increase in fouls and disparity in FT shots. That is an issue that needs to be addressed and soon but I believe seble will get it fixed. Bottom line is that some coaches will always complain, some coaches will always wear rose colored glasses, and some coaches will leave/will stay no matter what happens.

Funny I never saw a glass??? LOL

Anyways the reasons I left aren't what you had mentioned but I am sure, some if not all of those things compelled other coaches to leave.

I was never the greatest coach, and I never won a NC, or even got close, but I had fun interacting with other coaches and learning the game more and more.

What got me was there was never really that much improvement at all on the overall game aspect. Yes the new engine should do wonders, and I hope it does, but the way it was rolled out and at the time it was frustrating me to no end, so I decided it was time.

I may come back if i ever get that urge again, but I don't know at that time if it will be any different then it is now.
