nice thread - would be great if we can sustain it - to understand better the dynamics of firings

I'm confused on the Ohio firing... he raised the prestige, and then he got fired?  It would make sense to me if the prestige and firing systems agreed on if his season was better or worse than before.

No firings in Phelan. System's still got some kinks to work out.

lots of kinks to be worked out in my opinion.  I have been at Coastal Carolina for 10 seasons now and have been the the NT multiple times, i realize that getting jobs is based off of what have you done for me lately but in the real world a coach who has been at a program for 10 plus years with success in a low conference like the big south eventually moves up.  This year I am told to keep looking at all jobs with C prestige, even C- minus jobs im told long shot and to keep looking.  Only jobs I am capable of getting are D+ jobs?? where is the logic in this?

Firings in Allen after season 44: Gonzaga and UNC-Asheville.

I'd say: Loosen up the rules for qualifying while still leaving the higher prestige et all witha  big advantage:  THen the big boys and high rollers still get first dibs. . but the also rans get a chance at the table scraps once they are done.

I am actually slightly surprised at both of those firings-- neither of them was egregiously bad. I thought the standard was lower than that...

The Gonzaga firing makes sense to me. Having a base prestige advantage in the conference and only managing 50% wins in conf (or worse!) the last 3 years is difficult to do. But I managed it!

Jennings, I think yours made sense, too - 5 seasons since you made the NT or won a game in the postseason, 4 seasons since you made the postseason or finished with a winning record, and 3 seasons since you had anything at all in the "notes" column.

It's a shame, but I hear DII is great these days - gonna stick around?

Of course.

Didnt see ANY firings in Smith last night.

Wash St - Smith - I won 2 games and had 237rpi and went from "in jeopardy" to boosters complaining. I've already deleted the email but it said something like ... hang in there, you had an improved season but we expect better!

I'll go check my season before last....  Edit: 4 wins and 161rpi. I actually got worse.

As the holder of most seasons at the same big 6 school (Smith) I had already sent out my congrats to Davis (Maryland) and budluciano (Michigan) who would take over that roll. If this is a glitch then I don't mind!

Edit: Edit: Hmm. Ya know it's probably not a good thing to have my teams always being mentioned on this thread.

from the brink of firing, we were able to get our act together in Waco and bring Baylor back to respectability.  Of course, my plan then was immediately to get the heck OUT of Waco, while the SIM AI screwed up what was left of the roster at Baylor

the threat of firing is a powerful motivator - got Baylor back to the Dance, got out of Baylor and landed at The Ohio State University - dont think my predecessor there was fired
